    Weekdays I usually go to sleep at about 12:30-1:30 am and wake up at 7:45. Thats not that bad you would think, only problem is that I have to leave at 8:00 in order to be on time for work. I've been late everyday this week

      my dad goes to bed 230-3 am every night and wakes up at 6 am... and hes NEVER tired..

      he doesnt dream, or so he claims, so he doesnt get that tired so fast

        One would think that means he'd be more tired. Not dreaming means he's not reaching the proper level of REM sleep (level 5). I can't imagine that's very healthy, but I'm no Dr.

          wow eh? I thought the opposite. By not dreaming he's not moving and his mind isnt thinking so hard it makes him tired in the morning--instead, he actually rests

                So just a follow up here. I went to the Ear Nose and Throat Specialist yesterday and I get really good news. Next Friday I get to have my tonsils removed, my nose straightened (apparently it's more crooked than the Nixon Administration from being broken so many times) and two cysts removed from my sinuses. Ahh, the joys of getting older.

                    I can relate to this topic as I've been dealing with sleeping problems for years. Some back story...

                    I had my tonsils removed when I was 14. Around that time I started snoring. Since mid-high school, I feel like I'm always tired. I certainly haven't had the best sleeping habits or the best eating habits but it's not the worst either and while it might contribute to my problem I always thought there was more to it.

                    After complaining to doctors for years, I finally had a doctor offer to do a sleep study. The study showed I got very little REM sleep due to snoring. Basically, my snoring was constantly waking me up all night. I never knew I was waking up, but it was interrupting my sleep. Since I was getting very little REM, I wasn't feeling rested.

                    My doctor referred me to my dentist who made me a dental appliance (TAP). I wore that for 6-8 months and it helped a bit but not as much as I hoped and it started hurting.

                    I stopped wearing my TAP and have an appointment next week for Pillar implants (http://www.restoremedical.com/pillar.asp). I'm hoping this will help reduce or eliminate my snoring enough so I start getting more REM.

                    Personally, it's been a real challenge living with this and always feeling tired. I feel less productive at work and it takes a lot to get motivated. They say a symptom of lack of sleep is depression and while I'm not depressed I would say I feel despair about the likelihood of ever feeling rested. Hopefully the Pillar implants will help.
