I guess our teachers are paid pretty well straight out of uni by comparison then (38K Canadian first year out of uni at the current exchange rate).

Honestly have no idea how a full imigration would go to become a permanent resident. I knew lots of American exchange students from my uni (James Cook University) because we had a world class marine biology program so we got heaps of super hot American women over here studying. I know they have brought in or are thinking of bringing in "citizen" tests or something that they are making people do to prove they have honest intentions and want to assimilate into the local community. The best bet is to contact your nearest Aussie embassy or check them out online http://www.dfat.gov.au/missions/countries/us.html to see if they can give you more info.

haha yes they are. Mick Dundee is my neighbour and Yahoo Serious is my cousin and we all ride to school in the pouch of kangaroo's. Honestly though Australia is already very "americanized" with most of the popular tv/clothing etc labels being from the US or the same as what is popular there.
