Where should I move after finishing school?

Okay I have one semester left before I can sit for the bar exam. I have lived in New England my whole life and it is time to get away from here. So I am asking the people of OS to pitch some ideas where I could move. A few parameters though.

    1. Not Louisiana, they have a messed up bar exam and I have no chance of passing.
    2. Not California because ferrets are illegal there and we aren't giving up our flock.

The closer to Massachusetts the better for my wife. So, what would be a good place to move to?

I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm leaning towards Raleigh right now, I've got until next Spring to make up my mind so there's plenty of time for research and planning, etc.

IMO, most places from Philly and north are similar to NE.

I would love to move to the South. Unfortunately I need to make this decision soon, but I am leaning towards taking the bar exam in Massachusetts as well as another state. I am thinking somewhere in the South, my wife liked the area around Austin, Texas. For what we have now for a house is so much cheaper there than here, the cost of our house in Texas gets us a small mansion, it's unreal.

Well, while it isn't the south the Northern Virginia area is pretty nice, and there are quite a few good law practices in this area. (To encompas VA, DC and MD.) In the Texas area I have a quite a few friends in the San Antonio area that really like it out ther.

That area is actually on our short list. What is the cost of living like?

Texas, no question...no State Tax and you're right on about the real estate. Austin is nice, but i'd recommend North Texas, Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Insane! I "live" in Manassas VA right now. I'm completely biased towards NOVA. I don't like it and I'm getting out of there.

Just took my last final at Notre Dame so I need to find a place to live soon. I'm thinking of moving to Charlotte. Low cost of living, great city.

Hopefully I play pro ball though.

But back on topic. The cost of living is high.

No one wants to live in NJ.

I'd say somewhere in Texas. It's either somewhere in MA, or CT, or TX when I graduate from school and need to move into my own place. At least, right now.

We looked at Connecticut, if we did that we'd likely move to Southern Mass so I could work in Connecticut. DA's there get paid considerably better than in the Northwestern or Hampden County.

At first glance I thought your title of thread read "where should I move after *fishing* school" I was thinking wow fishing school huh maybe move near a body of water. I'm way to tired to be typing or to be working. Good luck with finishing school!

I'm not sure if Texas meets this criteria though.

I've heard great things about Charlotte. I'm from Pittsburgh, so I'm a little biased towards western PA. Low cost of living in both areas.

If I had a choice, I would move to the Denver area (but it is a little far from Massachusetts as well). DC is also on my short list as well. Cost of living is higher than Charlotte or Pittsburgh, but I like both areas.

What are some of the activities you and your wife enjoy? Sports. Outdoors. Museums. Etc. I would take that into account as well. For example, if you like the beach, moving to the midwest might not be a good idea.

You can't go wrong with that. I was born there and lived there for most of my life. Moving away was rough. The triangle is the greatest thing in the world. I cannot wait to move back down.
