    Re: Bought my first car...

I've always liked BMW's driving experience, but the interiors are just too bland and dry for me. I prefer the Lexus IS350 in the same class. The 350 has more power, more gadgets with the NAV system and IMO has a more luxurious feeling interior. I'm actually looking to get a 350 in the next month or 2.

Can't go wrong with either car though. My buddy bought a 3 series BMW when he came out of college and has only had 1 major problem since then. He said his car wouldn't start one morning and had it towed to BMW. According to him the computer died and had to be replaced. Not sure exactly what he meant by that. I'm assuming he was referring to the ECU chip. Other than that, it's been excellent for him.

i'm having to read the manual...

this car has a TON of stuff i didnt even know about until reading the manual...

by the way... the integrated bluetooth for cell phones in this car might be one of the coolest things i have ever seen... it reads in my entire sim card, and i can control my phone through the steering wheel... its cool
I know these BMWs are crazy. When my dad got his 7 series it took us 1-2 days to figure out what it does.

Fortunately for him he made me read it, learn it and give him the quick run down.

            Congrats... very nice sled bro.

I drove an 05 325i for a little bit... Dealership car. Very nice vehicle. The 06 has changed quite a bit in appearance from the 05 IMO, for the better. Very nice looking ride.

I may be a unique person... especially being from the Motor City and spending 8+ years in the auto industry... I don't get spending excess money on cars. Even if you have a long commute... that money is so better served in the your house... entertainment system... home theater... a car gets me from Point A to Point B.

Don't get me wrong... a car beats ridin' the bus or peddeling my *** all over town... I just don't get it. I have two close friends with car payments over $600. That's before the insurance and the gas to get it to Point B. I'd walk before I'd take a car payment like that.

But, that being said, that's a nice looking car, Dagger. Congrats.

Try paying $470 a month, just for insurance.

I agree, I was going to get a BMW and then I thought why, so I went with the Accord and glad I did. Mostly because of the BMW up keep. Any ways it is a nice car. I think the older I get and the more bills I have to pay I just have a different view on what I should send my money on.

Right, but the only thing is when you need work done that the warrenty don't cover like brakes or other things, it will cost you a arm and leg. They say BWM labors and parts are very high in price, but like I said it is a nice car and you might as well do it now, because by the time you get married and have a kid you probably wont be buying these kind of things.

                          Nice ride!

It is true though that it costs more to maintain a BMW than most other brands. Reason no. 1 why my old man decided to let our Beamer go after 9-10 years of having it.

Don't know why people are complaining about BMW upkeep. I leased my last one, and it covered everything but tires, and that includes oil changes and any other scheduled maintenance on top of normal warranty stuff.

Dagger got the warranty, I believe it covers the same thing as the lease coverage.

2006 325i is not a bad investment. They aren't super expensive, the 3 series is the premier car in the entry level luxury sedan market, and they drive like a german car should drive. Plus the 06 has the new body style which I really dig. My only complaint with my last BMW was I hated the i-drive, what a horrid system.

3 series is a little small for my taste, but it's a nice ride, and the 325 actually has a nice bang for the buck factor to it. Although at your age, buying a house would have been a smarter investment, but f it, you can always buy a house later.
