You do realize that the two movie producers were just putting stuff in and formatting it so that their product would sell right? SuperSize me is ridiculous. If you eat 5K calories of the same thing every day, no **** you'll get sick. Yet somehow people like you and others think its an incredible revelation.

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
I typically eat one fast food meal a day, some days as many as three, and the very most I've ever weighed is 140 lbs(I'm 6' tall). I'm a stick. It has alot to do with genetics. No one in my immediate family weighs more than 140 lbs.
I know it's not good for me and it will likely catch up to me if I keep it up, which is why I've slowed down alot on fast food as of late(well, that plus the fact that it's a costly habit), but not everybody who eats fast food is going to be a 400lb monster. I don't see a problem with it if your body can handle it and you enjoy it.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

I barely eat fast food. Can't afford to. Every male in my family since my great grandfather has hit 300 lbs (we're all over 6'3"). I even played HS basketball and was 6'5" 275 lbs.I typically eat one fast food meal a day, some days as many as three, and the very most I've ever weighed is 140 lbs(I'm 6' tall). I'm a stick. Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Because you're 20, you don't get it yet. Actually, most people in this country never get it regardless of age. Still a kid living in the moment and not looking at the big picture.
I saw the light around 21 years of age, started eating healthier and healthier each day, month, and year. I'm at a point right now where I'd probably throw up if I ate fast food. Processed food and food that's terrible for you is something I can't stomach anymore. If I read this thread five years ago I'd tell all the anti-fast food people to shove it. But that's when I was young and stupid.
Once you eat "clean" for about a month or so it's one of those revelations where you're like "Holy ****, I can't believe how bad I was eating and how crappy I felt." Then you stop eating clean for a few weeks, go back to your old habits, and feel like total crap all the time. Lazy, no energy, no attention span, etc. Then you realize, "I'm going to eat clean for the rest of my life."
I don't want to come off as too preachy because nothing in moderation will kill you, but there's a very good reason why a lot of people (mostly the older OS'ers) are anti-fast food.
People in this country have no idea how much nutrition really effects them. The three most important things we need to learn in this country are the three things we are never taught growing up.
A) How to exercise properly
B) How nutrition and our bodies actually work
C) How money works (how to save it, make it, investing, stocks, etc)
And TimmeH, you only weigh 140 lbs but I guarantee that you are the definition of skinny-fat if you eat one fast-food meal per day. Thats why I never understood all the Jared Subway commercials, the guy is the epitome of skinny-fat. I have no idea why anyone would want to look like him."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Where in any of my posts did I say his diet/experiment is what's great about the movie? The only thing I pointed out was the interview and the other information that's in there. He did an extreme thing that yielded extereme results for the entertainment/shock value of it. So, no, I don't think it's a "revelation." It's still worth watching because of all of the information in there about the fast-food industry (how they try to hook kids with toys, how the flavors are made in labs, etc.) and Americans' health/diet and the consequences. One of the more interesting things was how the behavior of "troubled" kids at a school changed into much more behaved kids when they switched their diets to organic food instead of processed food and sugar.
So, if all you want to focus on is that he got sick from eating that much McD's fine, but that wasn't really the point of the movie and I'm sorry you dismissed everything else discussed in the movie.
Just bear in mind that McDonald's Corp. refers to people that eat there once a week as heavy users.
Read the Fast Food Nation book and come back and tell me how much of that is BS.Last edited by born_bad; 06-01-2007, 01:43 PM.Comment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Until a few years ago, the best $1 value was the Big Cheeseburger at Jack in the Box. That was a sweet deal. I also was just in Idaho and the Double Cheeseburger at McDonalds there was $1.29. Has that changed, or is that just a weird Idaho thing?"You should only drink to enhance your social skills." -Barney GumbleComment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
All I know is that I eat some form of fastfood every single day and measure in at 6'1 145.
To answer the question, best value for me is a free steak sandwich from work, but otherwise I like the Wendy's nuggets or McDs double cheeseburger.Comment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Well, you should know that you're also literally eating sh*t.
"Although one may empathize with workers in the industry, the author strikes it closer to home when he discusses what's in the meat we eat today. In a USDA study, "78.6% of the ground beef contained microbes that are spread primarily by fecal material." In others words, you can get sick from eating a hamburger that's not well-cooked because there is literally sh*t in the meat."

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
I skimmed through the articles(not gonna spend the time to read all of that lol), basically what I got out of it is not all skinny people are in good shape and they may actually have an unhealthy amount of body fat. Some fun stuff for skinny-fat ppl who think they're unaffected by fast food and poor eating/exercising habits and think they're body "can handle it".....
http://www.health.com/health/article...092270,00.html
I'm not going to claim to be in great shape cuz I know I'm not. But I work in an un-air conditioned building on my feet all day long(probably 85 degrees in some parts of the building), doing alot of walking at power-walk speeds and doing some lifting as well...I know it's not a bodybuilding workout or anything, but it's a damn good workout in it's own right. There's not a night I don't come home with my shirt drenched in sweat lol
I look at my stomach and see abs, I look at my arms and see definition in my bis/tris, when I'm motivated enough I can go outside and run a mile without much effort. I go golfing at least once a week. I'm active. Like I said, I know I'm not in great shape, I'm actually starting a weightlifting routine(on top of slowing down on fast food) this weekend in hopes of getting in better shape and adding muscle/[good] weight, but if I'm unhealthy I think it's actually because I'm underweight(I think I was 130 lbs yesterday when I weighed myself, and I've heard people my height should at least be 140).
Holy run-on sentence that was. I'm done now.Last edited by TimmeH; 06-01-2007, 02:17 PM.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Here's a section from Fast Food Nation. It's pretty long, but for those of you that have the time and are interested, it's a lot of great information.
