Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Why the hell do people always come around preaching about the evils of fast-food every time there's a thread about it?
We know it's not good for us. We know we shouldn't eat it every day. I'm proud to say that I have cut down from two or three times a week to a strict once a week. So you don't have to keep reminding us that it will kill us. Great for you if you don't eat it, it really is, but it's not relevant whatsoever.
Some people seem to think that it's their duty to spread well-known knowledge to people they don't even know. On the Internet, no less. This thread isn't called "Fast Food - Is It Healthy?" Feel free to make one of those; just know that I won't be stopping by to read it.
And on topic - I have a tough time finding a better $1 deal than the double cheeseburger at McD's.Comment

Why are people getting upset? The original question and topic is asking about "value", so I think it is fair to bring it up. The real cost of fast-food goes beyond what you pay at the counter.Comment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Yeah, because people don't really get e.coli and food poisoning. Those are all just fictitious props for this guy to sell books. People that have worked with and seen the conditions of the slaughter-houses and explain how sh*t gets into the meat every single day are just making it up for fun.

Because the bolded sentence is inaccurate. Just read through the last few pages, you'll see multiple posters who eat fast food saying the opposite."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
"Beware of geeks bearing formulas." - Warren BuffetComment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
That's the point - yes, you can get it (food poisoning) anywhere and it's mainly due to the way the meat-packing plants/slaughter-houses have had to change in order to accodomate the fast-food industry. It's based on greed and having to meet demand while keeping costs low. So, while it may only cost you $1 for that double-cheeseburger, the whole industry is less safe (and the animals are treated in ways that define pure evil) so that it can only cost you $1.
That's the whole big picture that you're choosing to ignore. That's fine. You can choose to ignore whatever you want. I'll never convince you of something you don't want to believe, so I won't even try.Comment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
There's my point, ehh. People like born_bad, who obviously have only the best of intentions, are not going to convince a person who eats fast food every day and doesn't think that it harms their body anything. So please stop wasting all of our time. Thank you.Comment

Re: Whats the best $1 value in fast food?
Just because people know things are not good for them doesn't mean they will take responsibility for the consequences when it becomes time to pay. It also may be our responsibility to spread the word considering the cost of health care is directly related to the lack of "health care" by individuals in the preventative stage.
You fattys are costing everyone thousands of $$$$$
Wendy's bacon cheeseburger was the best deal for $.99 until they raised the priceComment

Tell me this though, fellas.
You're a college student, and you don't have a lot of money. You basically have a tapeworm in your stomach and you're hungry. What else can you really afford to eat while you take a break from studying or whatever it is you're doing?
I eat fast food. I won't eat McDonalds (I would eat it for breakfast 3/7 days of the week though). Every now and then I'll eat Taco Bell, Wendy's or Dunkin' Donuts. If I have the time, I'll go to the store and bring something home to cook, but if I'm in a rush, one fast food meal every now and then won't kill me. Neither will eating it everyday, but it will make me a lot less healthy.
That said...Taco Bell has the best dollar menu.
The 1/2 pound burrito saved my life while I was at DePaul University. I was so broke that I could eat 1 of those for a day and be fine. I'd eat half of it around 3pm and the other half around 10pm.-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

I eat fastfood, maybe once a week. If that, but.....
My favorite $1 value would have to the be the chicken sandwich at Jack In The Box. Oh something funny, I just found out like last month that JITB was not nation wide, or even close to it.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
