Another fallen hero....:(
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Another fallen hero....
"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. -

Re: Another fallen hero....
Nice post Matt....
Reminds me of a eulogy I went to for a Chief who died on September 11th.
His son(also a fireman) started to speak the names of some of the fire officers and fireman who died and then he paused......and said..."God has himself one heck of a Fire Department...doesn't he?".
Yep.
About the police officers...
Terrible story.....and really quite shocking. I don't understand why that kid would do such a thing.....

As for the story, well, kinda makes you wonder what goes through some peoples minds. The kid didn't really do anything all that horrible and yet he feels the need to shot two cops and himself. A waste of life...Very sad ineed.Comment

Re: Another fallen hero....
I ****ing hate these people that take lives and just take their own... usually I don't get ticked but this really burns me up inside.
One innocent man lost his life because of some... there is no word that I can put that would make show what I'm thinking right now.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.Comment
