I just recently graduated from DePaul University with a Masters Degree in Computer Graphics and Animation so I'm very fluent in C/C++ and I'm capabile of programing API's such as OpenGL and Direct X. I also understand a 3D math, not a lot of it BUT I believe I know enough just to get me by. So hopefully they don't throw a lot of new stuff at me.

Interviewing for a software engineer position at EA
Check this out. I currently work a part time contract at EA Chicago as an I.T. Support specialist. I took the job so I could get a shot at being something more permanent/full time here. The recruiter who hired me understood what my intentions were when they hired me two weeks ago. Last week she submitted my resume to the Chief Technology Officer here in the Chicago office and I got an email today that I'm scheduled to take a test and interview with some folks here on Wednesday. Was wondering if there's anybody out there who's taken these type of test what to expect?

Sadly I can't help you, but I'm interested in what anyone else has to say. I hope to be in your position in 2 years. -

The test will probably be a lot of coding and coding theory. If you're strong at that sort of thing, it should be a breeze for you.
I took a few of these type of tests when I graduated from college, but all were in other languages (ie: C, vb, cobol). I took a vb job right out of college, but knew I preferred networking/system administration so I moved into that realm shortly thereafter.
Anyhow, good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine.Comment

Re: Interviewing for a software engineer position at EA
About 6 or 7 years ago, I took a test from Tiburon for a summer internship there. The hardest programming test I've ever taken. Concepts and stuff I had never heard of. I was straight out of college so I was woefully unprepared. I still remember some of the interview questions, that part was actually fun. They asked who led the nfl in sacks that year - Kevin Carter...so whatever year that was...and questions about what I liked in madden and what bugs I noticed in the game and things like that.
from what I barely remember, there were quite a few questions on optimizing code. They gave you some sample code and told you to optimize it.
Good luck!Last edited by mudtiger; 06-25-2007, 09:34 PM.Comment
