        Re: Ugh.....Today I Turn 30

        Happy birthday man.

I turn 22 next week, which seems so old to me for some reason. Maybe cause it's not a very important birthday compared to 16, 18 or 21. Maybe it's because I don't act remotely close to that age. It seems like I just graduated HS yet I'll be 22. It might because I've spent most of the last four years jacking around, only getting 24 college credits down during that time so I look back and feel like I wasted the last 4 years of my life.

I just wish I could say that after 22 years, I would've done more with my life than where I'm at.

if you studied as half as much as you post on message boards, you would be a doctor by now.

You can never change the past but you can change the future. Everyone grows up and buckles down at some point. You're still freaking 22! I just turned 35 and have a wife and two young kids. Plenty of time.

You're taking life too seriously. You're only 22. You have no responsibilities. Have fun with your freedom and youth.

...but I still play games (and I've got my wife mildly hooked as well!)
30 isn't what it used to be. When the life expectancy was late 60s, yeah, but now that it's nearly 78, uhh, you know, math wise, 40 is the new 30. Then if you look at 40yr old and 50yr olds do they really act "old" anymore? Heck no!
I know quite a few single people in their 40s that drink the 20 somethings under the table. Medicine is advanced enough now that as long as you keep yourself healthy you'll have a long life.

The problem is... at 22 with only 24 college credits he's now back behind the curve. It's harder the longer you wait during your 20s to go back to school and end up with a meaningful decent paying job.

That's been the biggest knock on the 30 and under crowd. They don't take life seriously enough and then wake up when they are nearly 30 and are FAR BEHIND where they should be. They can't afford houses or to move out without struggling. They still don't have a career path set. It's not like how it used to be 15yrs ago.

I'm glad that someone in their 20s is trying to take life seriously.

No responsibilities is for your Teenage years and some of college. When you get to your early to mid 20s, you better be taking things seriously or else you'll be struggling for a lot longer than you should have been.

I wouldn't mind turning 30... again. At 45 I don't feel all that much different, but my kids got bigger.
