    Ya It's Hot...

Sweet can we get to 120 degrees? Thank goodness I work at night.

Damn. The Tri-State area has been blessed w. weather since May and it seems like every other part of the nation is being crapped on, whether never-ending rain or insane heat.

I just looked at weather.com out of curiousity... the expected high is 130 degrees (!!!) in Death Valley, CA, which would be a record high. Unimaginably hot.

Not to one up anybody, but it routinely hit 125-130 last year when I was in Iraq and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected. I just drank a lot of water. I was wearing about fifty extra pounds of equipment too. If you just refrain from looking at the thermometer, it's not nearly as hot as it sounds.

shortsoldier, is Iraq very humid? I would guess that it is not, and that that lack of humidity is what made the heat bearable.

I'd guess that 110 in moderate humidity would be much worse than a dry 130. But I have nothing to back this up.

Baghdad was humid as Hell. The Tigris River runs through the middle of it, and my base had five lakes, creeks, and a series of canals connecting them all. It was very, very humid and mosquitoes were the biggest I've ever seen. I NEVER imagined it'd be humid or have mosquitoes, but it sure as Hell did.

The whole Euphrates River Valley is humid.

The hottest I've ever been was in Kuwait. It was so hot my eyelids were hot on my eyeballs when I blinked.

80 degress here today in northern Mass. Not that bad but we've been having some thunderstorms lately.
