    Whitening Rinses?

Has anyone used any of them? Are they safe?

I have slight yellowing on my teeth, mostly leftovers from my high school braces days (when brushing was HELL!) and would like to whiten them up. I'm not eager for a full-on dentist bleach, so I'm curious about the rinses. I've seen both Crest and Listerine brands as well as Rembrandt.

Any help would be much appreciated! Like I said, light surface stains...non-tobacco user, etc.

    Thanks!

I've heard, and seen, people that use the Crest Strips and they work fantastic.

Don't know about the rinses, though.

Not too keen on the strips, seems like a hassle...

I was at the dentist recently and he told me all of that stuff (strips, toothpaste, etc) is bad for your teeth. It removes the enamel and exposes the dentin underneath, which is typically yellow in color. I was asking about possibly whitening up my "eye" teeth on top and he was telling me that he could do that but it's best to leave it alone. Brushing hard on those teeth with whitening toothpaste does nothing but make things worse and make those teeth more yellow. I've know this guy since grade school and he's probably been my dentist for 15-20 years. He wouldn't BS me about any of this. BTW, Johnny, I still have some cement remnants from braces as well.

I use Crest whitening rinse... it seems to help a little... but you really can't drink sodas or coffee if you want to keep them from being really white after using... Like Longhorn, I've heard the strips work the best for getting your teeth white.
