Anyway, any Engineers familiar with this review manual? I just ordered it and am going to use it as my study guide for the exam. I think my brother (he's Mechanical) will be ordering one as well to prepare himself for the exam.

Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
I have been having a hell of time finding a job in Engineering (Electrical) and have decided to study for and take the FE exam and see if that will be more enticing to employers. I honestly don't have a great deal of experience in the field but it's hard to get that when employers don't seem to be hiring entry-level guys.
Anyway, any Engineers familiar with this review manual? I just ordered it and am going to use it as my study guide for the exam. You NEED the FE...plain and simple. When I graduated a few years back most places desired it, and if you didn't have it, you were expected to have it within six months to a year or risk being laid off (after all, you need the FE and four years experience before you can sit for your PE certification).
I haven't had any experience with said manual, and from my experience most manuals are only good if you are fresh from school. I missed passing the test by a single point (a couple questions) and having been a stay-at-home dad for two years, am WAY behind. In fact, I can't even sit for the test since I'm no longer in the field and am years removed from school (would have to start a job, go back to school, or be in a review program to even be offered the opportunity).

What would recommend? I could possibly find a job in Columbia and move up there to get my MS from South Carolina or take the FE which is definitely a MUCH cheaper option. In my case I'm probably headed away from engineering (Civil) and am likely going back to school for Architecture or a Master's in Enironmental Science - Risk Assessment.I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams

It's not going to matter, since you NEED the FE in order to move up in the engineering world. Getting your Master's is all well and good, but unless you want to teach, you'll need to pass the FE and then take the PE in your discipline.
