Yeah that is real funny, until some one die, sorry but I have a lot of kids in my class that do the same thing. Just be lucky you didn't get lock up like them. Hitting it with a bat is one thing, but starting a fire is just wrong and not prank!

Where we lived in Massachusetts was a small town. Even if the thing had turned into a blaze there wasn't much for it to burn - hence - one of the reasons I did it. What would have it burned??? there was a pond on that side of the street... it could have gotten the road If the road could set fire... there wasn't another house for almost a quarter mile.

So... I did think about it. I was a crazy kid, but not crazy enough too watch it set everything a blaze. :wink:

As I've told people that do pranks and things like this. Before you do it, you have to asses the risks to the reward. If there's a chance that something can go really wrong, DO NOT DO IT!!!

What town? Jeez, in my town in Mass if we lit a mailbox on fire the entire Police Force would be searching for the culprits. Hell, my friends and I had 4 cop cars chase us for playing Ding-Dong-Ditch.

Haha, it was about...four years ago, I think.

We were bored, so we go into my friend's neighborhood. We hit about 6 houses, and then me and two of my friends leave. When we get to my buddies house, a cop car pulls up and starts shining the spotlight all over. He jump down behind the cars in his driveway. Four of our other friends are still around outside. We watch for a bit and another car pulls by.

About 20 minutes later we see the cars come out. Ten minutes after that my other four friends show up. Two of them have a bunch of tears in their shirts, one of them has no shoes on, and the fourth is covered in leaves. They proceed to explain that two other cop cars had entered into the neighborhood (It's like a big U-Shaped hill neighborhood) from the other way and cut them off, so they had to dive into the bushes. The one covered in leaves ended up jumping into a spot where there was a hill and rolled down about 40 feet. The two with tears happened to jump into pricker bushes. The one without shoes could not remember where he lost his shoes.

The best part was we ended up in the police log two days later. "At 3:34 AM, reports came in about a group of kids going around and ringing doorbells."

As I said - if we lit a mail-box on fire the entire force would be going door-to-door.

I think it's more a New England thing, when I was in high a group of my friends went out one weekend to smash mailboxes with baseball bats in rural Vermont. And by rural Vermont, I mean a part of Vermont where one state trooper patrols half a county.

My wife has told me similar stories about her friends or friends of friends from high school. So yeah, it seems to be at least here a Mass/New England thing.

I did the door bell ringing stuff as well. It's pretty damn amusing.
Another great one was throwing snowballs at cars with car alarms at 1am since the whole neighborhood hears it.

When the majority of your neighbors SUCK it's kind of easy to dismiss stuff.

My crew had a limit. A mailbox is a mailbox. We've had plenty of them here in NC and up north in MA beaten down.

If you go after houses or people's cars, that's where we drew the line.

And it was more than personal satisfaction getting my girlfriend's mom's mailbox... it felt #$%^ GREAT!!! When my girlfriend is saying "she deserves 100x worse" that's not a good sign. We could have done worse things. The mailbox deal was annoying to them so that's what made it great for me.

Again.. this was when I was 16... so... at 28, that was quite a while ago.

To be fair Deerfield has all of like 2 police officers on duty at any given time and one is always monitoring Route 5 & 10. I am surprised someone in the area didn't try to call it a hate crime. Deerfield is in the middle of a bunch of nuts like that.

This is why I loved that town. Cops were either on the main road or else they were getting high (at the time I was there some of the lovely townies were eating special baked brownies).

My ex's mom knew it was a hate crime, but she had no idea where the hell it was coming from. It was like an inside job, but i wasn't the dumb gamestop employees that get caught.


My brother and I were trained professionals. We had many years of getting away with so much that this mailbox incident, albeit a little bit bigger.

Pesonally we were fans of the mailboxes and lighting fireworks and mortars off in front of people's houses at 2am. Leave a small box of Saturn rockets... they'd got off for about 10mins... it was great!

We were celebrating one of my friends getting his first real job out of college, drinking at his parents house, BBQ and beer pong being the main attractions. About 12:30 his mom notices that a picture is tilted and says something to the effect of she wouldn't be able to sleep if she knew that a picture wasn't straight.

I decided that it would be a great idea to go tilt all the pictures in the house, I walked around the house for about 10 minutes getting all the pictures that were hanging on the walls. I was so proud of myself, it's a good thing I've known them for 12-13 years, in the end she thought it was funny, but had to straighten them before she went to bed.

I work in a hospital and there used to be a doctor here that was a real prick. He used to bust my balls all the time. Anyway, one day I worked late so I got two ketchup packs and snuck into his office after he left. I twisted each pack so all the ketchup was on one side of the packet. I went into his private bathroom, poked a very slight hole into each packet and taped them to the bottom of the toilet seat and gently put the toilet seat back down.

The next morning he came in and went into the bathroom to take a crap and all of the ketchup shot out on the back of his thighs when he sat down. I told my boss it was me because he hated him too. Everyone loved that one.


I also used to sneak into his office and cut the bottom of his pockets of his lab coat with a scalpel from one side of his pocket to the other. My friend said the doctor would walk into the Cat Scan room in the morning and reach into his pocket to get a pen and his hands would come out through the bottom and he felt like a total jackass.


One time my friends and I went away to a casino and one of my friends and I got back to the room around 1am, way before everyone else. I took anther one of my friends toothbrushes and stuck it in my *** and my friend took a picture of it. I put the toothbrush back in his bag and emailed him the pictures a month later. I still have the pics.
