    A tragedy in my hometown...

It obviously pales in comparison to most major news stories such as 9/11 and the various school shootings, but it's pretty bad for a sleepy suburban CT community.

The murders happened less than two miles from the house I moved to when I was 5, grew up in and where my parents still live. If you look at the map on a few of the news sites you can see my street. One of my best friends grew up (his rents still live there) four houses down from where the incident occurred.

Tragic stuff, and to think both were let out early on parole and should have still been incarcerated. There should still be much more information being released in the near future.

The first link has the most detailed information.

I saw this on the news the other night, shocking for the area.

At first when I heard about it all I could think about was the guy killed his family. It is very rare when stuff like this happens to totally innocent people...which is good for the rest of us.

When I got to read it though I'm glad they caught those idiots. They will spend the rest of the their lives in prison...or get executed. But geez man...how does one go on from that? How do you lose everything in your life sacred to you and want to wake up the next morning. I can't even fathom.

      May God bless his soul.

It's really absurd, the more details that come out the more horrifying it gets.

The two suspects saw the wife and youngest daughter at a Stop & Shop Sunday evening and trailed them to their home to scout them out.

Apparently the doctor saw his wife get strangled to death and his two daughters tied up to their beds, raped and burned alive.

The first cop to arrive at the scene could hear the oldest daughter screaming upstairs but couldn't save her in time. Ironically, that cop was the same person who arrested the 26-year old suspect five years ago for burglary. He was also nearly ran over by the two suspects as they tried to escape.

I've heard some other crazy rumors around town, the biggest is that three other men were involved and police are still searching for them. I dunno how true that could be, five guys to burglarize one home.

Anyway, RIP to the family. The services are going to be held on Saturday. That's not an experience I'm looking forward to.
