My first day of work.

Today is my first day of work at Quad Graphics. 12 hour shifts for 4 days one week and 3 the next.

I do that every week. But the catch is I have to work Sat, Sunday and Monday.

It was a pretty easy job today. I am on the same shift as my step dad. Skyboxer also works there. I also get time and a half, and a holliday bonus if I work on a holiday. I work at QuadGraphics on the Gravure Press. The benefits are the best part http://www.qg.com/workwithus/benefits.asp. To the people that want to know what I do, I load pallets into the machine when they run out with Big Joe(Mini fork lift that you walk instead of ride). Put Cardboard between each layer on the pallets. Make sure the webs dont break and if they do replace them imediately. Make sure the machines you are working with dont "crap out" on you. It is mainly press work. Help people when they need it and relax when everything is running smoothly. It will take my feet awhile to get used to wearing steel toed shoes for 12 hours.

Man steel toed shoes are the worst. They took a serious toll on my ankles and knees when I had to wear them at FedEx

they have some comfortable steel toe shoes if you look around. Some are just like tennis shoes.

Well my second day kind of sucked. The press I was assigned to went down about 6 times. Everytime a press goes down, we got to clean the cylinders off with taloine(chemical for cleaning, excuse spelling) which burns if it gets on your skin. Then after that we had to thread the paper into the web. Pain In The ***!!!!!!lol. Plus everytime my press man would leave me the press would f-up and I would be to slow to fix it before 1000 pieces of paper or watever we are printing that day go all over the floor. lol. The bright side is that the 12 hours went by fast. Also I got to eat my Buffalo Wrap w/ Fries.
