I know this sounds really cheap, but I am really tight on cash right now (not really,....I do have cash but my wife and I agreed on a super strict budget)....anyways.....

I have APF (the only game I own....only have enough time to devote to one game)....but I still have the receipt from GAMESTOP. I know they have like a lifetime warranty or something on their games, so if I return my game and just tell them that it's been skipping on me and would like to try another copy before I blame my console.....they would give me another "unwrapped" copy of APF....

....so now I sit there with an unwrapped copy of APF....would I be able to take this unwrapped copy of APF to WALMART or TARGET and tell them that my wife had bought this game as a gift for me but she didn't keep the receipt and it wasn't really the game I wanted....and ask if I can exchange it for Madden 08 instead....

Would this work?

...haha...i know this would probably be easy around Christmas time....I'm just wondering if it could be the same for Maddenoliday ?

Most gaming stores open the new copy before swapping it with the defective copy so that folks can't do what you described above.

However, if you did get a new unopened copy, Walmart would more than likely let you exchange it for store credit.

....not quite sure i'll give it a try just yet....but i am slowly being hypnotized by all the madden commercials .....

....if they open the new copy, then oh well.....it just wasn't meant to be....guess it wouldn't hurt to try.....

I've tried it. They almost always unwrap the new copy.

I guess it depends on where you live, because I have NEVER had a store unwrap a copy that they gave to me. In fact, I would probably ask them what the hell they were doing if they did so.

It sounds terrible, but this is how I managed to get many of my video games during college (especially if I spent my hard earned cash on a game that sucked). Wal-Mart kinda slowed me down a bit by putting in a new rule that you can only return three items without a receipt over a calendar year, but by the time they did that I was out of college and could afford the games.

I say try it. What is the worst that could happen?

Blame the publishers not the stores, especially on 1st party games. That and accessories is where they make their money. With the exception of the WII, most systems do not make money until a couple years into development.

As for the OT, it really depends on what store you go to. They are supposed to open it when replacing your copy but not everyone does.

Yeah 60 is a lot, but come on. That is about what they cost now. I have no problem sending that much money. Mostly because the older I get the more I realize, I DON"T HAVE TO BUY IT.

Ahhh...tried it last night....and i could not exchange it for a new one because it was already past the 7 day return policy (got it 7/18)....I don't know why i was thinking the return poicy was 30 days for an open item....oh well....

Funny thing was, I took it to the store (2 ladies were at the counter) I was the only person there as they were about to close....she told me i couldn't return it for a new one blah blah blah...then she asked me if i had madden 08 yet and asked if I wanted to trade it in for it.... I was like, so i can trade it in for madden straight up ( i know, wishful thinking haha ).....she was like well no, you would get $20 trade in credit from APF for madden...the she said, "All-pro sucks anyways." She said, yeah, its cool you can play with the legends, but you can play with more legends in madden. blah blah blah....she had to be in her thirtys (she looked alot older than me and i'm almost 30)...i was thinking to myself, does EA have some sort of deal with these gaming stores or something....i have never seen them "push" any game out of the store like they push Madden out....but anyways....

...i've tried to bear it, but there are just too many ads pulling me in....i have absolutely no will power and i will try and convince the wife that i need to get madden today....lol...
