          No. Not personally.
I'm sure I ran into and in with Robert Beddia when I worked in Manhattan for some time. Although I was in Engine Co. 1(right down the block from Madison Square Garden) and he was in Engine Co. 24(further downtown on 6th Avenue by Delancy Street) I worked there...I'm sure he probably worked in my house and we probably ran into each other at multiples(alarms).
He was probably the senior man in his house(he had 25 years on) and 24 Engine and 5 Truck has taken some big hits over the years.

In '94 they lost three guys. Captain John Drennan, Jimmy Young and Chris Siedenburg. They lost 11 guys on September 11th and now 2 more. Sad day.....very sobering.

                    Re: R.I.P. Brothers

This is going to sound kind of f'd up in a way....

The Fire Department is really about the only respectable group of government that's life.

The Police all over have bad raps due to twisted and abuse of power that the bad cops push which is crappy for the good by the book honest cops.

The Military. There's to many higher up Military Personnel that have made the honest solders get grouped in with the bad apples. It's sad since a lot of these guys deserve respect... it's not like they chose to go overseas, but there's been too many "Incidents" (be it prison torture, rapes, friendly fire gone strangely wrong, etc).

The Elected Government Officals... it's "elected" leaders are horrible, but we really don't have many true choices in picking normal middle class people since non-millionaires rarely make the cut.

I hate the prick athletes and celebrities that get WAY TO MUCH glory for being not doing much of anything that's really GREAT. They are only making things better for themselves mainly. There's a few good ones that will donate to charity and help out in the communities, but that's VERY FEW.

It's the Fire Departments that have true Heroes left.

Well sadly it's been confirmed what I knew already, from just knowing what the building was like and from listening to the radio as that job was going on(I was working that day and we listen to the department radio in throughout the firehouse) that negligence and carelessness by both the demolition contractor company and the workers themselves pretty much made an already difficult fire almost impossible to work in.

Listen to the radio clips(WARNING....LANGUAGE ON ONE OF THEM) and you will hear somewhat as things were going wrong that the guys kept it calm and professional. Heads up chief asking for a roll call.

Construction is given a free pass on fire safety(from a fireFIGHTING standpoint) ie gang nailing....laminated I beams.....truss construction and even crap like this, the plywood over the stairs and such and sadly as these newer buildings start to burn....we're bound to see more and more catostrphic failures and deaths from them.
Sorry for ranting....but it pisses me off.

nah Knight, no need to apologize.. from what I have heard, the "de-contruction" of that building has been plagued by delays, & "battles" over rights.. just seems like too much unneeded "garbage" goes on & because of that, 2 lives were needlessly lost..

i'm with you on thelightweight construction. here in md we don't have the abundance of high rise buildings as in the ny, but the lightweight construction they use on homes around here nowadays is laughable. the roof trusses in most of the houses (million dollar houses btw) being built around here are now fire rated to fail at something like 3-5 mins, response times being so fast nowadays usually puts us in the thing like right before collapse, or in most cases hopefully soon after so we don't even risk going in. sorry for your loss though bro, and naturally you and the brothers are in our prayers. take care and stay safe.
