Cracker Barrel is a top reason where you live?! LOL

    Mentor, OH (no order)

    1. 15 mins from downtown Cleveland for Indians, Browns, Cavs games
    2. I live less than a 1/2 mile from Lake Erie, can hear it at night in the fall with the waves crashing in. Great to sleep to.
    3. Two hour drive to watch the Buckeyes at home
    4. Two hour drive to Pittsburgh, 3 hour drive to Niagra Falls and gambling, 3 hour drive to Detroit/Windsor for more gambling
    5. Less than 2 hours to Cedar Point
    6. All 4 seasons, we get 90 degree heat in the summer, we have -5 degree with 2 feet of snow in the winter. Love the seasons
    7. Great concert scene, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
    8. Pro Football Hall of Fame is 90 mins away
    9. Love my actual area where my house is, great community, great neighbors, and 5 mins down the road I have a grocery store, restaurants, Best Buy, etc.
    10. Great seafood at a place called Pickle Bills, which is on the river, and has a floating bar. Also great food at a former train station in Willoughby Brewing Company (area still has a lot of brew pubs).
    11. High School Football...IS HUGE HERE. Love the big matchups, big games every week, and then the great Ohio HS playoff run. Many games televised, etc, just a great area for HS Football.
    12. The entire state is smoke free, meaning you can't smoke in any bar or restaurant.

Number 7 is my favorite, which is why I don't want to live anywhere in the North.

        Cracker Barrell is the shiznit.

I've been to Pickle Bills. Went with some co workers when I was in the Scrap Metal business. I liked Cleveland. Geez you guys have a ton of bridges!

I was in OH in February just passing through to pick up a puppy. I saw so much stuff there that I wanted to do sometime. It looks like a pretty cool place except for the snow.

Re: The best things about where you live...

Not going to rank them, but...

            - The pizza, sorry NY and Chicago but your pizza is not better than New Haven's.

            - New England weather, I love the seasonal changes.

            - An hour+ from NYC.

            - On the Long Island Sound, plus an hour and a half drive to the nice beaches of RI. Nothing beats summer time up here, whether in the Hamptons, Cape Cod or RI beaches - it's a blast every time. My personal fav is the Hamptons, but you can't go wrong anywhere.

            - Pro sports everywhere: Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants, Pats, Knicks, Celtics, Rangers, Islanders, Bruins - no more Whalers . All of them included on a regular cable package without paying extra.

            - A good amount of smart, attractive, successful women.

            - Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are 45 minutes away.

            - The music scene is very good, whether at The Meadows up in Hartford or taking a trip to NYC.

            - Basketball HOF is an hour north.

            - There are colleges everywhere up here, although I'm getting a bit too old for it now it was never hard to find a party or another school to take a short road trip to.

            - The best is you can get basically anything you'd imagine or want within an hour of New Haven. Hustle and bustle of the greatest city on the planet, rolling hills of the country, swimming at the beach, skiing in the mountains, great food & entertainment, pro and college sports, women, intelligent people, two casinos, two amusement parks, etc. Also, I love the history up here. Whether in Boston or Brooklyn, it's one of my favorite parts of the northeast.

Really the only thing I don't like living about up here is the traffic, but I'm used to it. The cost of living is somewhat negated since the salaries are higher, sans the ******** cost of houses.

College Park is alright, but I was living in Atlanta last year, so it doesn't seem like fun.

I'll be uber specific and list the actual place I live rather then the general area

                  Pickering

                  - Quiet place with lots of important things all within 5-15 minute drive
                  - less crime then the GTA
                  - pretty good carribean restaurant
                  - Lots of kids so there's definitely a family atmosphere
                  - My relatives on my mother's side all live in the general area

                    Milford, Michigan

                    1. Metro Detroit area means greatest sports city in America according to Sporting News. Milford is centrally located to anything sports related that would be of interest - 30 mins west of Detroit (Tigers, Lions, Wings) -- 20 mins north of Ann Arbor (Michigan) -- 30 mins east of East Lansing (MSU) -- 15 minutes from Auburn Hills (Pistons).

                    2. Four seasons -- It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love having all four seasons in one place. The seasons and how the weather is ties directly to my life. If it was sunny and 72 everyday, it wouldn't have the same personality to me. I want HS Football season to be those brisk Fall nights. I want to Ski in the winter. I was Spring training on the calendar to have a feeling outside.

                    3. Great concert venues all within 30 minutes. From fulls stadiums to small clubs... outdoor venues to dive bars... Great shows almost every night of the year.

                    4. Small town living without being far away from everything you need. Milford is a town of 14,000 and change. Nothing in town in open 24 hours. Everything is within walking distance. However, if you need something at 3:00a, we're still within 5-8 miles of getting it.

                    5. Great Lakes -- And I mean that as an adjective. Besides being surrounded by the actual Great Lakes here in Michingan, there are hundreds of great little lakes in and around Milford. Good boating, nice fishing. Lots of fun.

                    6. Golf - More courses per capita in Michigan than anywhere else. Milford itself has a number of great courses including my home course - Mystic Creek - which features my favorite hole on the planet - Lakes #8. Here's a shot from the tee box:

                    7. Great food - Not only has downtown Milford become famous for their great restaurants including some award winning cuisine, Metro Detroit has such a nice varied culture that you can get any type of food at an authentic spot any day. My personal faves are in Detroit's Mexican Town. Awesome authentic Mexican!

                    8. Up North - Michigander's #1 vacation spot is known simply as "Up North". Most folks have summer/weekend homes somewhere else in Michigan. Spots like Traverse City, Mackinac Island, and Port Austin are among my faves.

                    9. General Motors Proving Grounds -- GM's main Proving Grounds are in Milford. In fact, a large number of the folks who turned Milford from a little weekend town to an actual township were GM employees. I worked there for 3 years and had quite a few chances to ride the tracks. Really cool... even for folks that aren't into cars.

                    10. Windsor, Ontario - Our sister city to the North... well actually...to the South. Good times and great folks over in Windsor. And with a 19 year old drinking age, most Detroiters spend 19-20 as honorary Windsor residents.

Honorable Mention: Proximity to great cities like Chicago and Toronto, Hitsville USA, Close to Cedar Point.

Considering there was a show on the Food Network about New Haven's Big Three (Modern, Pepe's, Sally's), I'd say it's safe to say it's your tastebuds that are broken.

Besides, you could have gone to one of the crappy places. There are 4-5 amazing places, but there are still plenty of crappy college/delivery type places.

And unless you're 100 years old, Pepe's and Sally's were around when you were there.
