If I Won The Lotto...

The Mega Millions Lottery that is here in Michigan and well as a few other states has swelled to $250 million for tonight's drawing. Now, I'm not a lottery player. If I'm gonna gamble, I want a little more control over my fate than some wind blown ping pong balls. However, whenever it makes it north of $150 or $200 million, I can't help but scoop up a couple of tickets for the hell of it. Can't win if you don't play, right?

So, with that, comes the unavoidable pondering of what you would do with that kind of dough.

With a $250 million dollar jackpot (won outright by one person), most people would take the "lump sum payout" which would be about $160 million. Estimating on the highside that Uncle Sam is going to grab somewhere around 40% of that (give or take), you are looking at a payout of about $96,000,000.00. If you put that in a basic savings account that pulled only 2% interest, you'd be making about $1.9 million every year just on the interest.

So... that begs the question... realistically.... what would you do with that kind of money?????

I'd drop out of school, quit my job, and live off the money 'till I die.

If I won the lottery, this is exactly what I'd do, I've done this so many times in my head and talking with my wife, that I've spent it a million times.

First, pay off all my bills obviously.

Then pay off the mortgage of every close family member and friend. Equals about 11 mortgages.

Set up college funds for my 3 nieces, 3 cousins, and 4 kids of close friends.

Give my Mom and my in-laws both 1 million dollars to live comfortably the rest of their lives.

Finally, I would take all of my friends, family on a 2 week cruise. Pay for the airfare and room on the ship. Everything else would be on them, it would end up being about 40-45 couples going.

After that, I'd set up money for us, and build us a house to live in the rest of our lives.

Hmmm, I'd do quite a few things.

-Definitely buy a vehicle as I don't have one right now due to silly family issues.

-Pay for all my college.

-Buy a huge house for my grandmother back in my hometown.

-Apply for a Black Card.

-Start a foundation for diabetes & asthma.

That's really the major things I can think of. I'd keep most of it stashed in a bank, though.

I'd pay off all my bills, my families bills, and my friends bills. I'd move to a bigger house in a nice community. I'd donate a ton to the kids charities/animal charities out here. I'd put in a nice weight room and hire a personal chef since I'm single and always hungry!

Then I'd probably go back to work. I get bored on my 3 days off every week...$90 mil is not going to change that if I'm off 7 days a week. Money isn't going to buy happiness but I can help those around me...I think happiness for me will be a nice wife and kids someday.

Too generous for my blood. Outside of my mom, an aunt and about three ex-girlfriends, I'm not fond of anyone else. Real talk.


What I would do with that kind of loot? Move the **** outta West Philly before I'm taken hostage!

I'd give a lot of it to my parents, mostly so my dad could retire and just live off the money.

After that, I'd invest most of it to pay for my college, a new car, a house, etc.

With the money left over, I'd take a trip throughout Europe going to a ton of different soccer matches.

Id pay off my parents and close famlies mortgages, then id buy a decent sized house in California. Id live there just living off the money and would be back and forth between here (illinois, where family is) and the house in california.

Id also get on the buccaneers season ticket waiting list.

-Give my Dad enough to retire since he hates his job.

-Buy a new house for my Mom.

-Pay off both of my sister's college loans and give them enough to rent nice apartments where ever they want.

-Buy myself a nice car, and new cars for my family.

Now, what I don't know is if I'd want to take a few years off from school to travel, drop out of school completely and focus on writing with all the free time I have, or continue through school.
