While I agree, an hour of my life wrapping up coins vs. the 8 bucks Coinstar pays is a wash...I'd rather have that hour personally, but I know what you mean.

When I moved to AZ I took my coin bowl to Coinstar and had 80ish bucks in there after 4 years of just putting my pocket change in there at the end of the day (I hate carrying tons of jingling change in my pocket)

Unfortunately I haven't never looked into something like that. Truthfully, after everything I went through with my bank last year, I like good ol fashion cash in my reach.

Dude you ain't kidding, 2 weeks ago I was poorer than dirt and I managed to scrape up like $6.83 which was just barely enough to get me three 40 ounces of Olde English so I could get *earmuff*ed up that night. Thank goodness for that change.

There's a very safe investment that will give you anywhere between 10 and 20 percent return, every month: PAY OFF YOUR CREDIT CARDS IN FULL, EVERY MONTH.

You're an idiot if you carry a balance on a credit card, plain and simple. You're giving the bank 10 to 20 percent every month, depending on your rate. Paying off your credit cards is the fastest route to savings.

Simple rule: If you don't have the money to pay off a purchase at the end of the month, then don't make that purchase until you do. It really is that basic.

Good luck. And I apologize if you already follow that golden rule of financial security.

                Take care,

Yea, I just went to Coinstar and I had $25 in change.

A year ago I went and I had $130 something.

Amen. Why do people think they can spend money that they don't have? Credit cards are a wonderful tool that provide security for your money so you don't have to carry so much with you, but they are NOT meant for spending more money than you can pay back the card with. If you do that, you'll find yourself in a LOT of financial trouble.

The only reason you should have a balance on your CC if you are consolidating at 0%, IMO.

Currently I have a Money Market account with CapitalOne that is at 5%.

                        CO has some good benefits.

With my CC, I have a balance and just do transfers online whenever. The minimum payment is $25 every month, but everytime I make a transfer, that "minimum payment $25 due on __/__/07" goes away. I never just do the minimum payment. That would be stupid.

I hope you are not referring that you transfer balances each month from one CC to another.

Exactly. I've tried telling this to a friend of mine, but he doesn't get it. He keeps racking up credit card charges so he can "keep up with the Joneses". He'll be 10K in CC debt and still go out and buy a $2000 HDTV. He even said to me "Being in debt....that's the American way. Everyone in this country is in debt!". I laughed and told him I wasn't and knew many people that aren't and he's only kidding himself if he believes that. The worst part is...he's a 29 year old adult and still calls his parent's for money when he has trouble paying the bills. He just leaves out the part where he spent all his money on new toys.

I have a couple of friends like that. Being out of debt is peace of mind! Some people will never pay back what they owe.
