How do I get rid of water spots on my car?
Topic is pretty self-explanatory. I went to the car wash today for the first time in ages and the water spots didn't come off as much as I would have liked them to. Do I have to take it to a professional detailer? What about specific products that I could use?
Thanks!Tags: None -

Nothing is worse than water spots...except hard water spots. We have "hard" water out here in Vegas and if you park anywhere near a sprinkler at night your vehicle is covered.
I usually just hand wash my truck but there is something I buy at Target that gets most of the hard water spots off with little trouble. Just browse the automotive section and there are a couple products.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. -

I was just about to make a thread on this. The sprinkler system KILLS my car almost every night. Now half my car has the stupid very hard water spots on it.There is no place like Nebraska

Where the girls are the fairest,
The boys are the squarest,
Of any old school that I knew.
There is no place like Nebraska,
Where they're all true blue.
We'll all stick together,
In all kinds of weather,

Matt, do you have any specific product to recommend, or will anything do? I mean, I took the **** car to a car wash today and it was still unbelievably stained. It was horrible.
I need to start washing my car more often.Comment

Re: How do I get rid of water spots on my car?
You can do one of two things (or both really).
-Buy a claybar
-Buy a cleaner wax
The claybar is just a piece of clay that detailers use to clean the paint to prep it just before the polish and wax. You tear off a piece and make form a square size and stroke it over your paint to remove impurities like road tar, water spots, and any other thing that gets embedded into your paint. The instructions are easy and they are usually found on the box.
Cleaner wax is the quick all in one solution to clean, wax, and polish your car. It's primarily used for daily drivers but works well.
I've used Meguiar's products for a while and have had good results with them.
I'll post a couple links below so that you can see what I'm talking about. I would use both for good results. You can also get a good bit of protection from water spots while using this.
After you use the claybar you will notice the paint on your car is butter smooth, just waiting for you to apply the polish and wax.

Re: How do I get rid of water spots on my car?
Thanks for the recommendations, guys! Yes, this car is a daily driver. It's a lease, so I mean I'm not too worried. The spots just bother me personally. Looks like I have to head down to Pep Boys or something soon...Comment
