Anyone live in / lived in South Korea?

I have recieved a few good job offers to work in South Korea.

I doubt I'll consider going for at least 9 months as I've got existing contracts where I am.

I've worked in and lived in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and a few other places in this region before. However, I've never been to Korea.

Has anyone lived or worked there? If so, what did / do you think?

I never lived there but I have been twice for vacation. Most of the country is quite beautiful because they do have 4 distinct seasons(except for jeju island just south of there because its more of a subtropical climate). It is very crowded in and around Seoul(11 mil in the city and another 9 mil around it). Seoul is very expensive but if you get a contract your employer may pay for at least part of it. One thing you need to know right away is there social values are based on Confusism. Everybody has a place in Society and usually older men will come first. The woman there are extremely preety and dress very sexy(youll hear the sound of high heels hitting the pavement in your sleep). The food tends to be on the hot side because Koreans believe sweating is very helpful. There is a lot more I could say, but I'll stop here for now. one last thing, I give you a link to one of the english newspapers so you can understand the culture more:

What company do you go through for these contracts?
How old are you now?
Is the money worth it?
Did you go to Teacher's college or did you just do an ESL program?

Contracts are from people I know.

I am 37 now.

The money in Korea is pretty good...especially if you are based in the region.

I did Law and Political theory at University. I did a TESOL as a Post Grad student (i.e. a full year course / not a one month course).

I'm doing a lot of corporate work + medical staff training at the moment. My wife has worked for a few hospitals in the region (she's a Pharmacist) and the medical training came about through her friends.

It's a lot of fun...moving countries gets tiring though

We own our own place in the north of Thailand. Thus can 'base' ourselves locally / it's not far to travel to any countries in the region.

Good luck if you decide to do it. You can pretty much work anywhere in the world. Beats the hell out of staying in one place / one job for years IMO

I am married. My wife is a Thai born Australian woman. Thus, she has two passports and can move easily etc.

In western countries...she works as a translator. In asian countries, she works at local hospitals as a Pharmacist. (she has both qualifications).

So...it hasn't been that hard.

However...we've been trying to have a kid for a while now. So far, we've not had any success. My wife hasn't been able to fall pregnant.

If she does fall pregnant...then, yeah, we'll have to settle down

I've never really been bothered whether I have kids or not. My wife really wants one though, so I really hope it happens for her

Having to 'try' all the time isn't exactly hard to do also I must admit
