Ugh, I Swear It Gets Worse Every Day

The University of Memphis campus is on lockdown following a shooting.

Right now, Memphis police are looking for a person who shot a driver of a car that crashed into a tree.

This all happened around 10:15 p.m. near Central and Zack Curlin Street which is on campus.

The man was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, but right now Homicide Detectives are on the scene.

An Eyewitness News Everywhere crew on the scene talked with some U of M football players. They say the person who was shot is one of their teammates.

Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. We've had about 4 or 5 campus alerts already this semester alone. People are constantly getting attacked and robbed, or even shot.

Even though I don't live on campus and I'm not on campus at night, it's still frustrating to see this happen. I've got friends that are down there, so it can be scary.

I'm sure this goes on most campus' across the nation but it's still horrible to see.

Wow, that's sad. I'm not really sure if it's actually worse than it used to be or not, or if the world's just always been this screwed up.

That's the sad state of affairs for colleges and major cities.... I don't understand why people have to be so frikkin' nuts. Then again, there's so many defenses that people can use now because the law is so twisted and crooked at times that it makes it easy for people to do some heinous things.

Memphis, Tenn - Many on the campus of the University of Memphis are stunned this morning after a gunman shot and killed a Tiger football player on campus!

This all happened around 10:00 last night. As word spread, students, players, and coaches started showing up.

Police say that defensive lineman, Taylor Bradford, was shot around 10:00 last night. This all happened in the parking lot of the Carpenter complex on Central Avenue, right across from the campus.

These apartments are owned by the U of M, and house all Tiger athletes, but other students live there as well. Coach Tommy West showed up at the scene as well as dozens of other tiger football players. Investigators say Bradford had been out with some friends at a restaurant last night.

He told one of his friends that he needed to go back to the apartment to get some keys, and that's when police say a gunman shot him. Bradford got back into his car and drove one block where he crashed into a tree.

Medics took him to the hospital where he later died. No suspects have been arrested in connection with Bradford's murder. Bradford was a junior transfer from Samford University. He worked as a member of the tiger defensive scout team last season, but had not played this season.

I remember when I lived in Memphis and my mom worked on the University of Memphis campus. Well one day she went to the grocery store near campus after work. She realized that she forgot something at her office (The Atheletic office). So she goes there parks her car in front of the building and was inside for like 10 minutes. She comes out and her groceries are gone...

Isn't the University itself surrounded by DECENT neighborhoods?
