    Ordering flowers...

Have two holidays coming up that I won't be able to make it home for (Halloween and someone's birthday) and want to send my mom flowers for Halloween and the girl flowers for her birthday.

Now, I've never ordered flowers before, so I don't know if anyone has any suggestions as to places to look/order from, or what the best kind of deal is?

I know they'll put anything on the card for you, so I'm not worried about that...but do people know if they deliver on weekends, what times of the day, etc?

Or...am I going to have to find somewhere local because there are no mass flower shipping stores?

Yes, I realize I could google everything and search, but I'm headed to bed so I figure if I get some responses by tomorrow morning I'll have a good place to start.

    Re: Ordering flowers...

I once ordered from 1-800 Flowers. It was a nice success, delivered it to her work and all. Not sure about weekends/holidays. I'm sure everything is on their website.

I also ordered once from "my neighbors flowers" while in high school. It was a great success that night, but the next day I was caught and had to terminate my membership.

I've used 1-800-flowers twice and there wasn't any issues. Now it doesn't come put together and displayed. They might have to cut the bottoms and put them in a vase if it doesn't come with one. I got some tulips or my mom and they came closed and openned up afterwards and lasted for a while. They are delivered by UPS or Fedex and will delivery certain things on the weekend for a fee.

There are also some sites that will use a local shop for the delivery and you have a little more control over the delivery.

Instead of sending flowers to your girl, send me. She'll be twice as happy if you did.

            Re: Ordering flowers...

I've used 1-800 flowers and it's good, but you can't write your own card, etc. Kinda impersonal. But you're not doing it for a gf/wife so it probably doesn't matter.

But it's awkward as hell telling the rep over the phone what you want the card to say if it's personal. Just walk into any local florist and talk to them, chances are they are part of a florist network and have a contact in or near your hometown (or where ever you're sending the flowers). This way you can buy a card, sign it, give it to the florist and they'll send it out along w. your flower order.

After my ex-gf got my 1-800 flowers order a few years ago, she kindly informed me of that practice. I'm pretty sure that's what 1-800 flowers does anyway.

I use Pro Flowers online all the time, the flowers have always looked nice when they are delivered. There is also usually a "mikeandmike" promo code for their website.

                I don't think she'd like a Ludacris look-a-like.

Yeah, the whole...impersonal aspect of it [Though, when ordering online you can type out your own message] doesn't really matter because A) one is for my mom and I don't need to get sentimental since it's for Halloween and B) the other is more of a joke-esque gift, not for a girlfriend or wifey or anything like that, so it'd be better if I didn't have to come up with my own.

Why do I keep getting that. Just last weekend, I'm outside of the barber with my head down text messaging and some dude walks up like "Luda"? He should of kept his damn braids.

You look like Luda after someone just told him he is a horrible actor.

Yeah, there's a 1-800 Flowers store by my house, I went there once to get flowers for someone. I was just going to drop the flowers off myself, but I'm almost positive you'd be able to make (or plan) a bouquet and then send it at a designated time.
