Started new job (career) on 24 September 07

I neglected to inform my people but on 24 September I began my new job at Verizon Wireless...or should I say career. It is a CSR position with full benefits, 401k and all the trimmings. Since my degrees are in electrical and electronic engineering, this is a good position because now that my foot is in the door I can move over to the technical side of things. The discounts on phones and services are bad either.

Just wanted to let my extended internet family know what's going on with me because I know I haven't been around in a few weeks. Had to move in with my brother because I had to relocate. Got the wireless router setup now and you should expect to be seeing your boy on XBL in the new couple weeks.

Congrats man! Make sure you to put as much as you can into your 401K.

There are 3 Verizon Wireless buildings a few miles from my house. I've been trying to get in the door with them for years, but they haven't had any positions that suit my needs.

What do you want to do? Is it more then just selling the phones at the store? Do they have higher jobs then those? MY brother started his own store at Sauslito.

I'm definitely doing that. My mom's an accountant so I'm gonna have a sitdown with her when I visit next week on how/what to invest. I've got my percentage to be deducted set though.

I was long-term subbing an AutoCAD class and was actually taking it upon myself to teach kids AutoCAD as opposed to just babysitting like some would do in a class like that. I submitted all of my paperwork to the State Department of Education only to find out that I couldn't get certified to teach CAD but I could get certified to teach Electronics. The school's director and I attempted to get the district superintendent to change the program to electronics because if she didn't then she wouldn't have a teacher anyway. A week ago today, I found out from my contact in the district that the superintendent didn't want to change the program.

I was offered the job at Verizon back in late July-early August so I knew that, one way or the other, I had a career opportunity. I really wanted to teach electronics at that school but the change of scenary has been good.

I went to college after high school for Electrical Engineering and then got an Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology last year and the only experience I've had was as a Jr. Technician and a Technical Writer while on my Internship during the Associate program. The funny thing is, I really don't want to do that kind of work. It was a situation coming out of high school where you say, hmmm...Engineering = money. Ya know?

What do you want to do? Is it more then just selling the phones at the store? Do they have higher jobs then those? MY brother started his own store at Sauslito.

Scott, I work in the call center and there is a progression of positions in service. My aim though, is to do my 6 months (6 if you're leading and 9 if you're just performing) and then take the test for data to work in that area. I'm also looking at trying to move to one of the switching stations.

Cool, I didn't think it was hard to get a job working in the store spot. So I was curious what you would be doing.

I'm a Sr. Network Engineer right now so I'm staying in that field. Frankly, those stores aren't close to what I do.

I'm talking working at their corporate headquarters and working in the IT dept running the network. They have 2-3 of their corp buildings around me.
