One thing that I've always disliked over the years are when girls feel they need(or just want to have) a fair-high amount of makeup/lipstick and stuff like that, when in reality, they actually look better with little to none at all. Similar with wearing glasses. Feeling the need to wear contacts instead(regardless if wearing contacts occurs when wearing lots of makeup or not), but they actually look better with glasses than without.

Most likely just their own personal preference on how they look, and my own personal preference on appearances too, but it's something that I've always disliked. Though seems to happen more in present day than before.

Peer pressure and we live in a shallow world. From the day you are old enough to watch tv, you are bombarded with people look sexy if they wear this or have this type of body. Get bombarded with it on a daily basis everywhere you go.

Glasses have always been associated with being a nerd, geek, social outcast. Growing up in high school and in college I knew quite a few people who refused to date people who wore glasses. They preferred their partner to wear contacts.

Same thing with make up. We live in a world where you are expected to do certain things when you become an adult. Adults suppose to drink coffee. Men are suppose to drink alcohol. Women are suppose to wear make up and know how to walk in heels. Every woman suppose to have a little black dress for date night when they want to feel sexy. Men are expected to know how to fix things and build things with their hands.

Our world is shallow and filled with peer pressure from everywhere. That is just a sad fact of life.

I do. I know some people who are simply terrified of the thought of putting something in their eyes

I wear my glasses 99.999% of the time and I have contacts as an option.

I think I look better in glasses.

I got a few pairs of contacts in college so I didn't have to wear my glasses out to bars and stuff (literally can't see without them) wasn't ever a big fan. Never seemed to be as good as glasses vision wise and would get annoying.

Only positive was being able to wear sunglasses. My eyes are super sensitive to the sun and these transition lenses on my glasses are meh

I got the surgery in college because playing baseball in the cold wind in the spring in NE PA with contacts wasn't very conducive.

I then had to get it done again about 5 years after college.

Now I'm at the point this year when I'm going to have to go back to contacts again and not very crazy about that.

Aren't glasses kind of fashionable now anyway? I mean I'm sure they get annoying or aren't practical in some situations, but it doesn't seem like there's really a stigma attached to them anymore, quite the opposite in fact.

Glasses are fashionable now. Just look at all of the people who wear them without actual corrective lenses. Quite a few NBA players do

Ya, I do think it does probably have abit to do with that. Sucks to see though how peer pressure and pressure from media/other things can cause people to change appearance/think certain looks are good(or bad).

Main reason I brought it up now though is cause of facebook and meeting some people in real life recently,then after adding them on facebook and actually seeing some of their other photos, really started to realize how they look better without makeup/contacts(aka the way they looked when I met them), compared to how "dressed up" they were in all those facebook photos. But like I've mentioned before, many people always seem to think they look better WITH makeup/contacts when that actually isn't the case many times(at least based on my opinion)

Don't mean any of this in a whole "___ looks bad with makeup/contacts" way or anything, just mean that they don't look as good with it,and actually look better without it(despite what they might think)

As long as you pop the lenses out before wearing them.

I lucked out on glasses, everyone in my family are blind as bats and I have perfect vision. And my parents said I would go blind watching tv and playing video games too. HA.

But whenever my vision goes, I'm going all the way glasses. I can't even put eye drops in my eyes.
