I don't overthink Facebook nearly as much as you do and I ignore requests all the time. It's really not that big of a deal.

Only time that didnt work out so well was when i had some family trying to add me but couldn't find me. Cause we didnt have mutual friends atm. Luckily next time i saw them i made sure we got to add each other
I kind of prefer my profile public anyway, which is why I'm saying I don't really care if my profile isn't private and why I haven't bothered to try to do something about it.

I guess it depends on the person then lol. Some dont care, others care alot. And some just aren't careful. I see ppl post instagram pics on fb,but the privacy setting is set to public. So while their fb page is private and instagram is private to only followers, their instagram pics linked on fb aren't,meaning ppl can still see it.

I've heard contradicting things regarding finding yourself on google searches. Some people say its good to keep things private cause all companies google potential employees to find out bout them,so even if you got nothing to hide, you still shouldn't let employers be able to stalk like that. But at same time, others have said to make things public so they can find you, cause employers might think you are hiding something if they cant find you on facebook, twitter ect.

Even if your profile is private, companies can still see your profile because Google will grant them access.

I think that's one of the reasons I keep my FB profile public. I want to make it so public that I don't have anything to hide at all, meaning I want that profile to genuinely appear like that any company or employer can see what's on there. I'm not trying to hide a thing. Hire away, please! Haha.

                    lol seriously?!

......I don't have anything to hide,I think lol. Unless the employers hate the type of tv shows I watch or sports teams I like,or people I'm friends with, and so on.

Well yeah, they could. Maybe not those interests, but political and religious views are instant causes for people possibly not being hired if you're very preachy about any of it and they aren't for that.

A lady at my work just last week posted a profanity-laced comment on Facebook that my boss (department head) called her out on.

                        His comment:

"If you're upset at me, my department, the work involved...at least be smart enough to ensure none of your friends also work with you."

I don't post anything that has anything to do with political/religious type stuff, regardless if my account was 100% private or not. So I guess I'm fine.

They can't send another request if I never deny the first one.
