Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I adopted all my teams from my Dad, which was pretty easy since they were all Detroit. But if left to my own devices growing up, I probably would've picked based on colors. Any variation of blue has a good shot, teams like the Mariners and Jags would be up there, but I was young when Griffey JR was in his heyday so that would've been natural for me anyway, also I might've been a Lions fan anyway thanks to the blue scheme and loving Barry back then. Come to think of it I may have been a Pistons fan anyway too lolWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Same with me and Pittsburgh teams. Both parents(especially my dad) were massive Pirates, Steelers, Penguins fans and from Pittsburgh, which then rubbed off on me. Being in Florida, I never got into any of the Florida pro teams, but I did end up liking certain color schemes when it came to uniforms.I adopted all my teams from my Dad, which was pretty easy since they were all Detroit. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Ok here's my beef. I live in Maine, because of this people automatically think I'm a Patriots fan. It's starting to happen again this year now that pre season is a week away. Yesterday I'm in the store, I go up to pay, here's the conversation:
Cashier: You excited about the Patriots this season?
Me: No
Cashier: Oh , you're not a football fan?
Me: No I'm not a patriots fan, I'm a chiefs fan.
Cashier: Oh , so you from Kansas City.
Me: UGH!!! No born and raise right here in Maine
Cashier: Then how come you're a Chiefs fan
Me: Because I like the team, is there a law that says I have to be a pat's fan if I live in Maine.
Cahsier: Haha Guess not, take is easy.....

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm not even sure how I really wound up watching the teams I did. I know the Jets happened because I started getting into football in the 98 season. My dad was a Cowboys fan and didn't want to go for the same team. The Broncos had just won so felt like I missed the boat on that one. So I picked the Jets.
I had watched basketball for years as a kid and of course liked the Bulls, but when Jordan retired, I started watching Portland. When the Grizzlies moved to Memphis I finally had a team I could actually watch locally. Don't follow basketball that much these days.
And I have no idea on baseball. I really got into baseball in 2002 when I moved to Mississippi and it was the first week of the season and I hadn't gone back to school yet. Watched games on Extra Innings and I remember watching Halladay's first start in 2002 and never looked back. Not sure why Toronto over any other team. Similar to football, I didn't want to go for the same team as my dad so the Cards were out. Never was that interested in Atlanta.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I wear hats that match the clothes I wear.
Here is a picture example (this pic is maybe 12 years old by now though, I doubt I still have this hat):
Spoiler
On that same token, I also have a Cincinnati Reds hat, a Chicago White Sox hat, an Atlanta Braves hat (though I like them)... the list goes on.
Likewise, as big of an SF Giants fan I am, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing their hat if I had a blue shirt on. If need be that I like a team enough, I will be sure to get clothes that match that hat... even if they are team clothes.
The one thing that I will never do (which actually grinds my gears) is wear a team hat that does not have the traditional colors. Case in point, a blue SF Giants hat. You know, like this:

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Oh you didn't you know, if you live New England you must be a Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins fan. You must also have a shrine of Tom Brady in your house. I get the same thing being from Chicago, people automatically think I'm a Cubs fan. Nope, I prefer the White Sox.
I live so close to the New York border that all my stations come out of New York. So therefore all the news coverage is about the Giants, Knicks and Yankees.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
For the record...why would anybody think you're a Chiefs fan in Maine? I ran into some Buffalo Bills fans in NC back during Thanksgiving last year - it was like a polar bear in the south, I didn't think they existed down here.Ok here's my beef. I only wear my Pittsburgh team hats. I mostly wear my Pitt hat though I tend to where the hat for which ever team is playing that day or which ever one has the bigger game if multiple teams are playing.
Somehow I don't think any legitimate self-respecting Giants fan would buy that hat.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII
