I think it's mostly that. Netflix is the Facebook of streaming services. Or the McDonalds, Walmart, etc. It casts such a wide net. People will sit through hours and hours of Netflix content just because it's on Netflix, as opposed to seeking out content elsewhere. And there is a ton elsewhere. But most people aren't going to look.

Word of mouth is a thing too. At work I will hear people talk about binging an entire long series, and sometimes their review will be "meh, it was okay." Always cracks me up.

When some people freak out just because you haven't watched a popular TV show or movie that apparently everyone else has seen already.

Not that I know of but never looked.
Not to be "that guy" but... I did grab Doom for PS4 last week.

Just can't get used to it after playing all the rest on PC.
Just way to used to M/KB especially for the fast paced DOOM.
Gonna sell it and get PC version soon week.

        From what I understand DOOM 64 PS4 supports M/KB but Eternal doesn't..
        That's screwy if true.

eh, I think it's more that whatever is new and popular, whatever is trending, there will always be a faction of people who gobble up the new, popular, trending thing, to be included, and make others know that they're included

It's a desire to fit in. It's trendy. They see people watching, they want to feel cool and hip and they say "yeah I watch it too!" It's how the vast majority of shows got popular in recent years, because the quality is damn sure not the determining factor.

It's like when I started watching Entourage back whenever it was because that's all my damn friends would talk about so I figured "hey I need to give this a shot otherwise I'm not going to have anything to talk about with these people." I gave it 3 seasons until I came to the realization and said "Nope, this ****ing show is trash."

I've muted the words about the tiger show. I don't give a **** about any tigers unless they're of the Detroit kind.

Psychologically, I've kind of always been the opposite. If I'm the same as everybody, then I'm not standing out in my mind. Therefore, something that is popular for others is less enticing to me, unless I can attest to myself that it is absolutely something I want to experience for myself, and not "for others."

I don't look to stand out either.

I just like what I like. Always been that way.

Finally having that free half hour to sit and play a quick game of something only to be hit with the Time to Update screen! Time to fire up the NES then, which ungrinds my gears after a few minutes, but then I remember how cheap those games were, and my gears are worn!

One of the worst things about modern games, having to install them, especially on the slow PSN.

To piggyback off that, I don't like having games update normally by themselves on PSN. Especially when these updates are usually a couple gigs each.

I don't want to uninstall say, RDR2 because of its massive download size.

when I was a kid, I caught a huge break with a cheap little chocolate pie, one of these crust pies with goop in the middle

I liked breaking them open and eating them from the center to the ends

welp, I opened this specific one up and it was all green and fuzzy
