One of the super market shopping centers/strip malls near me has this funky vodka bar blue LED light for their big parking lot lights. Always looks weird or I'm in a Michael Mann movie.Comment

Yeah, some of the lights poles on my street (we got a bit of everything, LED, old yellow, blue-ish) have that blue-ish / violet ones and you start thinking you are in Twin PeaksOSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

"Would of, could of, should of" and the like.
I've wondered if people who type or write those phrases have their brains completely lock up when they read "would've, could've, and should've."
But then I realized that they probably do not read.

Decent grammar has been lost in our society, likely not to return any time soon.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Websites that have a text box that's 100% only designed to enter numbers (mainly ones like the login security codes where you get an email or text to verify it) and that text box doesn't default to a number only submission so your phone opens up the keyboard rather than just the number pad.
I don't know a huge amount about web design, but I played around with making a site years back and I definitely remember being able to specifically create text boxes or getting the option to make it a number only box.
Part 2 of gear grinder unrelated to first half...
Streaming ads (and ads in general) that are out of place for what you're watching. I see too many sports games that have 14+ or rated R horror movie ads and I'm just like...you know kids/families watch these games at home right? How is that allowed during a non 14+ broadcast?
Similarly for streaming ads. I'm guessing the ads are generalized for the app, but if your app has kids shows as well on it, there's no reason that during your ad breaks on a kids show you have non kid appropriate ads showing on it. Tv at least you can change the channel quickly or mute/cover screen with tv guide (which is still annoying to do), but streaming one's, you gotta sit through it, or they're just watching it by themselves.Last edited by Majingir; 01-19-2024, 11:56 PM.Comment

We got rid of cable and went with an antenna. There is a "Rewind" channel that plays older sitcoms and stuff, and I swear every commercial break is for Medicare Advantage Plans or trial lawsuits.Comment

Ads should differ based on the TV rating just as much as it should based on the show.Comment

The worst ads are all these pharmaceutical ones where everyone is singing and dancing and then they fast talk through the side effects of crotch rot, bloody diarrhea and death.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Paramount+ was running this pharma ad that had a jingle to it, heard it so much it got stuck in my head. Then I started to realize the jingle was different, recorded in different musical styles. There were multiple ads for the same thing. It was pharmaception.
FWIW, it’s Skyrizi. “Nothing is everything” lol. Effective commercial I guess.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
