Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?

I hate when people use the word "literally" in a non-literal sense.

"Ever since my dad handed me a guitar 15 years ago, I literally have never let go of it."

How about people that don't know the left turn on red from a one-way to a one-way rule?

This kind of reminds me of the "Things I Hate" thread in the SF. Is there anyway we can revive that?

But then when I go around hearing people spoiling parts of movies to people, it kind of irks me. Sometimes I just hate bringing up movies because people will start doing it.

I have a friend named David who, when we were very young, wouldn't just spoil movies, but he would spoil a scene before it happens. Kind of like, "Oh watch how he dies this is so cool!" kind of spoiling. Or he'll say lines before they happen. My family was very aware of this issue, and from that moment on whenever somebody spoils something we always call it "Pulling a David."
Yeah, I even hate when someone goes the "oh watch this part" route. Just shut up and let me watch the movie.

Also, I used to have to record a lot of sports games when I worked in retail. One of my friends would always tell me that he knew the score of the game and I would tell him that I didn't want to talk about. Eventually, he would throw out a score and it didn't take me long to figure out that his dumb*** always just inverted the score.

This. And equally annoying is when people say the same thing over and over when telling a long-winded story. Just get to the ****ing point already!!!!

Anyway, my biggest Pet Peeves are:

People who let their kids run wild in public. I mean keep those rug-rats on a lease or something. Also, parents who bring their small children to a rated R movie is up there as well.

                  and

People who chew gum with their mouth open. Especially, in a professional setting. It makes them look silly and very horse-like, IMO.

Me and my girlfriend was at a movie the other day and this couple walk in with a newborn. Of course the entire movie this thing just cried over and over. Worst experience ever.

By the way, this just came into effect for me last night. My mom was pretty much yelling back at me after I made it abundantly clear that I didn't want to know anything about the Giants game last night because I was watching the archive, but of course my sister had to open her mouth about it. I wanted to shut it off right after.

This is most definitely my biggest pet peeve. Bar none.

Most of my pet peeves come on the road..

My biggest is around road construction on highways when one (or more) lanes is closing up ahead, with signs clearly stating so, but some people zoom up as far as they can and force themselves over in front of someone at the very last moment. If I'm close enough to the end, I'll occasionally slide over and try and block half of the closing lane just to express my displeasure

                              Coincidence (dictionary.com)

Okay so maybe the two definitions create come gray area. Here is an example

Irony: diabetic getting hit by a truck carrying insulin (insulin is supposed to keep that person alive, ends up being the thing that ends his life)

Coincidence: diabetic getting hit by a truck full of sugar (sugar is supposed to be the thing that ends people with diabetes' life prematurely. only this was in a different way. this is when most people confuse irony with coincidence)

                              so whats your pet peeve?
Isn't the second one still ironic. One would expect for sugar to perhaps end the persons life prematurely, but not by getting run over by a sugar truck.

I think it's ironic because one wouldn't expect a diabetic to die from sugar in that way.

Re: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Another pet peeve is when my roommate cranks the a/c to like 68 degrees. It's summer, I shouldn't be wearing a sweatshirt. Although, she pays the entire electric bill so why should I care?

Also I hate when people pick on speech impediments (this one I think may have been mentioned). On occasion I fumble my words, and everyone who hears it has to jump on my case and make a joke out of it.

If I hesitate for a moment while speaking, someone will jump in and interrupt.

Or if while arguing they'll go "duhh duhh" like it's my fault I have to gather my thoughts before finishing my statement sometimes. I don't stutter much, but when I do and someone goes "duh duh" or "t-t-today junior" I wanna knock out their teeth.

Also, asking me a question that I need a moment to answer does not mean I'm incapable of answering, and needing a minute to think of specific examples on the spot doesn't mean the examples don't exist.
