Oh, I believe it. I coached at a DIII university in California the last two years and spent some time on the UC-Riverside campus. I heard more Spanish being spoke there as I walked around, than English. Howeever, I find a lot of American-born, English as a 1st language, speakers are worse than some ESL people.

Yeah, trying to understand people with thick accents is a real pain especially when you're already hearing impaired. I had a Physics class in college and the lab/recitation section I was in was taught by a guy from Bangladesh and I couldn't understand a thing he said. You'd go insane extremely fast in a lot of California Universities. ESL students are a dime a dozen and I even failed a class once because I couldn't even understand the prof. She was first year teacher, had a heavy Japanese, and it was a Java programming. It was like the prof was speaking in a 2nd language while trying to teach me a 3rd.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

That's how most of the math/science professors are at OSU. It's awful. You'd go insane extremely fast in a lot of California Universities. My TA used to sit across the room from me, I'd look at him with a questioning look of wondering what the hell the prof was saying, he'd just shrug his shoulders, laugh, and throw his hands in the air.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
The amount of pressure society puts on high school athletes. Saw a tweet yesterday that LSU could potentially produce Top 10 picks in football, baseball, and basketball in 2017. I mean, I'm ecstatic that athletes as good as them chose my favorite school, but they haven't even suited up yet. Now we're basically guaranteeing them top dollar when they DO go pro?Boston Red Sox

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
It's actually quite disturbing sometimes. One of my friends was a four star RB and he decommited from the school he verbally committed to and chose another after he and the coach had a bit of a falling out. I read his timeline on twitter and he got some really nasty tweets from grown ups, most of which would break the TOS.The amount of pressure society puts on high school athletes. It almost feels as if society treats athlete at every level as nothing more than a means of entertainment, while failing to recognize that they're human. I mean, how can you hate on a 17 year old for choosing what college they want to go to?Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
DirecTV doing the ol' bait and switch by offering 3 free months of a higher package, only to find that when you try to go back to your old package that some channels are missing. Turns out we had a "grandfathered package" so basically they gave us the free offer so we would lose that package.
After talking with customer service they got us back on the old package but I believe it's too little too late now, just counting the days til our contract is done.Comment

That's surprising, since DTV is known to have some of the best customer service out there.
On the bait and switch mode, the company that employes me has these commercials that says you can get 4 phones with 10gb of data for $160 a month. Which is entirely true, but people don't realize that their pricing is going to change when they upgrade their phones, and the customer service agent who changed their plan for them doesn't explain it like they should. I spend most of my shifts explaining this to customers.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Having worked in a DirecTV call center, I can say that there are some sneaky *******s that work there. I was personally there to give people the best customer service experience possible. Some people were the strictly to get their numbers up.That's surprising, since DTV is known to have some of the best customer service out there.

Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Agreed. Following Pitt recruiting news on Twitter, I often run into people sending these kids messages if they don't pick school A over school B. They're highschool kids, regardless if they pick your school or not. It's actually quite disturbing sometimes. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yea, for the first 18 months or so before we moved we had zero issues. Since our move and entering a new 1 year contact though it has been less than stellar...enough for me to tell them not to renew Sunday Ticket so I can get out once our deal is done unless they just absolutely wow me...but after this bat and switch I don't know that I'll seriously consider any offers they make in the future. I also found out today that the "free 3 months of movie channels" I was offered last month was actually pay for HBO then get Showtime at no cost, but when THEY called me to offer this the first questions I asked (as I did when they offered the 3 month upgrade) was "Will by bill change and can I simply cancel online or by phone and resume my same service at no charge?"
Guess I'll be going to the bar or streaming my Packers games this year.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Those adults that sent him those tweets are completely immature and are complete idiots. I would love to see how they would react if they were in the same exact situation as your friend and received nasty tweets on twitter for a very ridiculous reason...It's actually quite disturbing sometimes. Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I've only seen girls do that. I assume it's because they can't (or don't want to) grow a real mustache, and they want to be "artsy" for pictures they post on social media.Comment
