I think I get to be an exception because I actually have attended/am attending a football and basketball school. Still attended 5 or so basketball games last year and will go to 2 or so football games at UMD, but they just have inferior products.

I started liking Duke because I used to watch a recorded tape of the '92 UK game at my grandparent's house every time I was there, and I became a Gators fan because of Fred Taylor. I think putting everyone that likes two different teams in the same group is a little too much.
That makes sense to me honestly, especially considering you're what, 17-18? You've obviously been a fan since you were a child, so 2 different teams makes sense to me, pretty much how I am with FSU and Georgetown.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

See, I was that way with Memphis and North Carolina. Growing up in Memphis, I was always a Tigers fan. But when I was 10 or so, I really started to like the Tar Heels. It wasn't just basketball either. I loved watching football (41-9 upset over FSU was huge), baseball, even womens basketball I got into. I've got a Ronald Curry jersey, a few basketball jerseys and even a baseball jersey. Ed Cota is one of my all time favorite basketball players. I've traveled to Birmingham and New Orleans just to see the play in the tournament.

That really stayed strong for about 8 to 10 years, until I hit about 20. That's when I started to notice that my interest was dwindling for the Heels but staying strong for the Tigers. I wouldn't even get upset if the Heels lost, no matter the sport.

I guess as I got older, my childhood team just kind of faded, especially since I'm now a student at the UofM. A few months back, I actually took down all the North Carolina stuff that hung in my room, outside a flag and a blanket on my wall. Only reason they are up is cause I don't have anything to cover up the ugly walls in my room.

Watching baseball on TV and the pitcher steps off the mound and the crowd boos. They immediately think it's a balk. It's annoying as hell because 90% of them don't even know what a true balk is. They just boo to boo.

To add to this, when the crowd boos when the pitcher throws over to first to get the runner back. I guess he is just supposed to not pay attention to him and let him steal.

Even more addition to the baseball things:

It really grinds my gears when TV play-by-play guys can't tell what the damn pitch is. Then they argue and the wrong pitch usually wins because they're all idiots. That gets me.

How about when you are trying to look at erotica, then your screen freezes and other people walk in the room.

                    Talk about awkward.

I'm pretty sure they're booing because they think the pitcher is too much of a box to throw a pitch. Same reason why the boo when a pitcher throws too many pick-off attempts.

And because it takes so *** **** long.

I want the game to end so I can watch something good on TV. But the pitcher keeps delaying the game.

agreed - after editing your statement!

                            these things grind my gears:

When people say I 'could careless,' when they mean 'couldn't careless.' I wish people would learn how to correctly use this phrase - the more you botch it up, the worse you sound.

When someone who is serving you (in any service industry) says 'no problem.' That is the worst! Of course it's not your problem, it's your job - you are paid to that. How about a simple 'you're welcome' or 'it's my pleasure.'

                            ALL CAPS

Longshoremen - sorry, that's a job related issue

I must say that lawyers who file frivolous lawsuits really grind my gears. Not only are they idiots (regardless of where they went to law school, whether it be Harvard or Cooley) but they are bringing down the entire profession. Lawyers get a bad enough reputation in society, but so many of them do so much good, take the lawyers at Legal Services firms, they take a low level of pay and represent indigent people who couldn't otherwise afford legal representation. I have decided I couldn't do that for a living, but I have nothing but respect for these people, yet they get lumped together with jerks who file pointless lawsuits asking for assinine damages.
