What is every body's opinion of Olive Garden? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

went there the other night ...

my wife ordered a $9 appetizer as her meal but made her pay extra for the stix and salad even though her meal cost more than mine.

i ordered cheese ravioli with pesto instead of red sauce. however they don't have pesto . what kind of italian restaurant has no pesto?

other than that it was allright. i prefer johnny carino's.

I said average because it can very wildly. I've had some awesome meals there, I've had some awful meals there.

Unlimited soup and breadsticks is great for lunch.

Otherwise, it would be better to find a smaller local place.

Thats exactly how I feel about olive garden. Everything else is good but you can find better Italian food at other places. But the bread sticks are hard to beat.

It is average. My dad is Italian so if I want good, authentic Italian food I just let him cook. I can not eat any other lasagna but his.

When Olive Garden runs their never ending pasta bowl special it is good.

At least you didn't misspell "bad."

I think Olive Garden is excellent although truthfully I've never had real Italian food (From what I hear even the mom and pop Italian restaurants here don't taste like real Italian food) so I can't really compare the two.

I enjoy Olive Garden... but I can tell it certainly isn't the best example of quality Italian cooking.

Like I said, I still enjoy it thought. The Lobster Ravioli they used to have... MMMmMMmm....

No idea... they replaced it with this shrimp dish... it's not the same....

Waaahhhh... I think I've been to OG twice ever since. When they had the LR I used to go every other weekend, practically!

Another dish at a commercial restaurant that was dropped (one of my fav's) was the Chicken and Mushroom Penne, from Houlihan's. It was cooked in this sweet, marsala sauce... .MMmMm....

Ok, now I have to go get lunch. I'm hungry. Haha.

Jayzus, what is it with you guys and chain restaurants? Take a walk on the wild side and actually try a local joint. Better food in most cases, and the money is staying local.

Chain restaurants usually are far inferior to local joints.

Well... you're not gonna have any threads here about local restaurants so the threads you do see pop up give you a skewed view of where people go to eat.

Olive Garden is good for what it is. I don't go there expecting high end fine dining and I don't go there expecting real Italian meals.

There's nothing like my 89 year old Italian grandmother who was born in Italy cooking an Italian feast. Now THAT'S real Italian food. Anything from lasagna to gnocchi to bragiole (sp??) to home made meatballs/sausage etc... Everything is incredible.
