    Food

Thought it would be cool to see what the resident OS chefs have going on. Have any great recipes? I'm always looking to expand my palate.

    Bring it.

          Re: Food

I'm a lazy cook, but a lot of stuff is simple to make.

          [SLAYER's Egg Rolls]

Pack of egg roll flats (flat egg dough in a bag, made specifically for egg rolls), some slaw (basically a bag of salad mix that is smaller and the contents more refined), a few shrimps, and just fry it up. The package with the egg rolls has the instructions on where to add the filling, how to fold it, etc.

Fry it in some healthy oil like peanut oil. Break out the soy sauce (have a legit bottle, I've personally been laughed at by my GF for using the packets), some duck sauce, etc.

For the health-conscious, egg rolls aren't that bad.

            Re: Food

This is a recipe I found off of another forum and it has quickly become one of my favorite dishes to cook. The recipe calls for very few ingredients, it's simple to make, and it's very hard to screw up. However, it isn't a quick recipe because you need to set aside 2 hours to let everything simmer up.

            Carne Guisada

            Ingredients:
            3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 pounds of sirloin steak (or boneless beef chuck shoulder roast)
            2 onions
            2 bell peppers
            2 cups water
            3 tablespoons flour
            1 tablespoon garlic powder
            3 tablespoons cumin
            1/2 tablespoon of salt
            1/2 tablespoon pepper
1 can of diced tomatoes (I like to use a can of Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles)

Step one: Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet and put the steak (cut up into bite size pieces) into it. Brown the steak thoroughly.

            Step two: Drain the skillet.

Step three: Roughly chop up the onions and bell peppers and toss it in.

Step four: When onions are translucent add the flour, garlic powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Stir it up to mix everything together evenly.

            Step five: Add the water.

Step six: Cover and simmer for two hours.

Step seven: Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 15 more minutes.

Step eight: Enjoy! I like to serve it up with some white rice and tortillas.
