    LVMPD Officers Down

I've posted on here before about other officers getting shot, and always from other agencies. Sadly though this time it's from mine own, and even the station I work out of.

Three officers responded to a domestic situation at an apartment complex at about 1:30 pm today. While knocking on the door they heard a scream from inside, then shots rang out inside and started coming through the door. They immediately retreated, called for help, and set up a perimeter. Three officers were hit in the first few seconds of the frantic gunfire and were all rushed to the hospital a short time later. The suspect was surrounded and negotiators talked him out a few hours later alive and well.

Thankfully for all of us, all three are ok. One was shot through the wrist, one was saved from a shot to his chest due to his body armor, and one was saved from a gut shot because the bullet deflected off his gun belt. Somebody up there was looking for all of them on this one. May the recovery be speedy and I hope to see them on the streets again soon.

We never know who is in that car we stop, we never know who is behind the door we approach. Sometimes officers come off as rude, aggressive, or just plain mean...but just remember we just want total compliance from citizens not only for our safety, but for yours as well.

It's so great everyone is ok. I read about it happening a lot, mainly due, as you said, to frantic gunfire, but fortunately this time no one got seriously injured or died. What a relieving miracle.
