Ga OS members

Question to some of the Ga residents...Holic is on of the few off the top of my head

Im 26 and have never been to stone mountain..just one of places that ive never really got around to visiting...my questions are

1. How is it? Worth the drive and price?.....I live in nw ga so it will be about 2 hours depending on atl traffic which i will assume will be horrible

2. Any that may have visited how is it during the holidays..like christmas shows,lights etc..my main reason for asking this is the reason im thinking of making the trip is to take the girl ive been seeing, her 4 yr old little girl, and possibly my 6 yr old nephew and i know that they would love the lights..santa..anything holiday etc..

Mainly im just looking for something new and different that everyone will enjoy...living in nw ga ive done most of the local to semi local things..rock city,ruby falls,atlanta and chattanooga zoos,tenn and ga aquariums so any help with stone mountain or any other places that my girl and the 2 younger ones would enjoy

Personally, I like going to Stone Mountain in the summer. All the rides and attractions are open. And at the end of the day (night), theres a pretty cool laser show on the side of the mountain. Now that it's getting cooler, alot of the stuff is shutting down.

Something you might want to look into is the Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier Islands. We go every year, and my kids love it. You can check it out here,

Thanks a ton after reading about Lake Lanier it has certainly became an option and the more I read on stone mountain you're right most of the stuff will be close down save the weekend of the 23-25 which isnt an option for me as ill be working that weekend

Yeah, schedule Stone Mountain in the late spring/early summer and you'll have a blast there.

I've been to Stone Mtn a few times and I've always enjoyed it. Although since I'm not from or live in GA, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post that or not...

If you aren't loaded and just watch to chill at the Magical Nights of Lights, can you do that? Or do you need to like book an overnight room and all that expensive stuff?
