I have a cold with a really bad cough any advice to get rid of or lessen it.

Someone, today actually, told me that if you put Vick's vapor rub on your feet and socks it'll cure a cough. He sounded completely serious when he said it, but I couldn't help but laugh. How in the heck could that help?

There is actually one that uses some alcohol and honey (I think), but I don't remember what or how much to use. It will stop a bad sore throat or cough.
