    Banking assitance.

At work i just meant to take out $20. By mistake, I took out $200! The 0 button stuck in and I didn't notice it. That was $60 more than I had in my checking account. I have Soveriegn bank, any way I can avoid paying the fee? I simply cannot reach an agent on the telephone.

I'm hearing it's $30.00 penalty. I'm pissed. I'm hoping to figure out a way to avoid it. Anyone have any tips?

GO INTO YOUR LOCAL BRANCH BANK AND SPEAK TO A PERSONAL
BANKER. REQUEST THAT THEY REVERSE THE FEE. IF DO NOT
HAVE A HISTORY OF OVERDRAFTS THEY MIGHT ACCOMODATE
YOU. IF THEY DO NOT , THERE IS NOT MUCH YOU CAN DO .

        GOOD LUCK.

How does a ATM let you take out more than you have in your account in the first place?

I did the same thing the other day. I was at the BofA machine and hit quick cash. After I touched the screen after putting my PIN in...I didn't think it registered so I hit it again and it clicked on $100.

I'm far from those days of overdrawing myself (I remember them fondly) but it still pissed me off. I'm sure it must happen to people everyday.

If you overdraw your account, just go to the bank and make a deposit before 4pm the same day. They don't apply any fees until the close of business at 4.

Had a bad experience with my bank.. I did a transfer to pay a bill at one branch.. after work, checked my balance again at another branch & the computer showed me that the transfer didn't take place.. so once again I did a transfer.. only problem? the bank was updating their computer system at the time & basically I was hit with a bunch of overdraft charges.. I went in & basically told them to remove it, that it wasn't my fault that two different branches would show different amounts.. they did reverse it, but I promptly closed my account with them... joined a credit union...

                    I hate banks...

Yea so I was down to 3 dollars and change in my checking account because I hadn't deposited a few checks that I had yet. And I had a subscription to this Jets site that I forgot to cancel that is $6 a month. I pay through paypal and when I don't have money in my paypal account it takes it from my checking account, and I never really keep money in my paypal account so that's what it did. So I got a letter this today that I had overdrawn my account by like $2, and because of that I got a $32 fine.

Nothing I can do now, right? How do they apply the fine, do they just take the next $32 I deposit?

Haha, why the hell did you remember to pull up this thread? Um, Im not too sure there's anything you can do now. I always try to keep track about what is taken out of my account (XBox Live only I think).

When my problem happened, I was able to fix it by depositing enough money in to cover my withdrawal before the next day. In this case my uneducated guess would be your screwed.

I searched for banking and it came up.

For some reason I have a brainfart and when I withdraw $20, I hit the deposit button instead and don't put anything in the envelop. It's only happened twice, but still. Boo.
