Re: My car.
I got up this morning like any other Monday. Took a shower, got dressed, and then headed off to school. I was more than half-way to there, when I hit a patch of black ice and my car went crazy.
I first slid into the guardrail on the passenger side, then my car shot out and did a 180 on the street, then I flew back into the guardrail tail end first. I don't really even remember how it happened. I just remember the car going sideways and hitting things and then stopping quickly. I was the only person on the road when the accident occured(thank god), and then three ladies pulled up a few moments after. They stayed around and chit-chatted with me until the cops/parents arrived. The cop was pretty nice; he didn't give me a ticket. So I have no legal issues, just have to figure out what to do with the car and figure out how I'm supposed to get to school until things are set straight.
Luckily I'm not dead nor injured, but my car is screwed up pretty bad. Hopefully the car can be repaired, it was fun to drive.
So here goes nothing.
I got up this morning like any other Monday morning. Took a shower, got dressed and was on my way to class. I'm almost there, probably 5 minutes away. This guy in front of me, we were both going the same speed, he suddenly decides to slow down immensely and I hit him.
Here is the reason for the accident. There was another accident on the right lane, and the dude slowed down to look at it. I slowed down with him, obviously, then he slowed down some more, when I pushed down on the brakes some more, for some reason they stopped working and I hit his car.
The guy tried to say someone was "cutting" him off. We were on a left turn, a prolonged one, highway type, and I saw in front of him, no one cut him off. And if someone was cutting you off, why would you slow down from lik 70 to about 20-30?
A cop showed up for the other accident then came to ours. He pretty much said that even if it technically wasn't my fault, the guy who hits the other car from the back, it's usually his fault.
We ended up not doing a report, and exchange info. I asked him for his drivers license, he first said i don't have one but then said he forgot it at home. Cop was dealing with the other accident so I didn't say something. Should I have said something to the cop about that?
His car, an Explorer, has a tiny scratch on the rear bumper, my car is pretty ****ed up. My hood bent upwards, and the front bumper has some damage. This absolutely sucks.Comment

Re: My car.
What I don't get is, if someone was really cutting him off, why would he slow down from like 70 to about 20 in a short period of time?Comment

Re: My car.
We both get in accidents, exactly one week apart and at approximately the exact same time. We also both drive Pontiacs.
How does that happen?
P.S. Maybe I shouldn't have said "I hope you get in an accident, but don't die" last week, after I got in my accident? My bad.Comment

Re: My car.
At least your car is still in once piece.
My entire front fender tore clean off. It flew over the car and landed in the ditch behind the guardrail. My rear bumper was also torn off. But that was torn into like three parts.
I also had some scratches and scrapes on the side panels of the car.

Re: My car.
Yes it sucks. We are both at fault. No reason he should have slowed down, but I didn't leave enough room in front of us. Oh well. It happens. Although, financially this is the worst possible time for something like this to happen, especially with tuition payments coming up for the Spring. I'm looking at selling some of my old books that I wanted to keep, they were for my major so wanted to keep them. I should get $250 or so for them, then find a way to make more money.Comment
