If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: Working At A Pizza Place
Bingo. They called from a pay phone, we were prohibited from taking calls from someone calling from a pay phone but my manager took the order anyhow. Before I left I told him if I get robbed it's his fault. I assume the address that was given was abandoned because I never reached the door, the guy jumped from behind a bush as I was walking up and told me to get on the ground.Comment

Interesting. What the hell is a pizza guy gonna have on him anyway? His cell phone? Like 10 bucks? Stupid.Comment

Re: Working At A Pizza Place
A guy I knew got killed a couple days ago. He was going to a house and got shot. They think it was gang related, he wasn't in a gang, but they think that was the way for a person to get into the gang, go kill some random guy or robb them. I think they try to robb him, but he faught, so the one guy shot him.Comment

Just get a ccw and buy a gun, problem solved. I wouldn't do deliveries without one, depending on where you live of coarse.Comment

hey, i'm a GM at a Papa John's in Indiana, and have been so at this store for 6 years. before that i was a manager and driver since 1995. if ya got any questions or anything just let me know. the only suggestion i might have is find out if it's a corporate store or a franchise. corporate stores are a pain in the butt sometimes. good luck.Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Re: Working At A Pizza Place
I'm going to Papa John's tomorrow to apply for a job, and wanted to know if any other OSers had worked at a pizza joint before, whether in store or delivering pizzas.
Just kind of want to know what to expect before hand.
For those that delivered, was that all you had to do? Were you gone most of your shift delivering pizzas (obviously coming back to the store to pick up orders)? Make good tips? Any funny stories?
After 2 days of delivering, being sick and at times going to the rest room to hurl back at the shop I gave my resignation. I can think of a lot worse jobs to do if you have a decent car and a radio to listen to since most of the time you're just driving around on your own. It certainly would help to have a GPS or great knowledge of your delivery area though. That's one thing I learned, people don't like it when you're really late with their pizza.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

If you were to open, how late would you normally stay?Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: Working At A Pizza Place
each store is different. my store is in a smaller town, so we're not that busy. the driver on dayshift stays until 4, 5, or sometimes 7. during weekdays we only get about 4 or 5 orders for lunch then sit around and nap or goof off on the laptop until 4. the busier stores i have run in tucson and ohio would keep their dayshift until 6. each store and manager is different, but most will work with your hours. if you want to get off at 4 that's fine. if you want to work until 6,7, or 8 .... that's fine.
ps> as i type this i'm at work it that tells you much for my store.Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else.

Re: Working At A Pizza Place
I worked at a local place, doing deliveries. Luckily I was never robbed. But I had heard stories. Pretty much what everyone here has said. If your familiar with the area your out the majority of the time. and make sure you have a full tank of gas before your shift. Late pizza means no tip even from the most generous of customers.Comment
