I went to the movies Saturday night and the tickets were $10.50.

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
Bought our house in 1993 for $87,000. It now lists for around $260,000. Absolutely ridiculous.
I feel sorry for the younger people trying to make ends meet. Angry actually.
And remember, every dollar you make you wind up paying 50% of that, peed away in taxes.Comment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
It's great for movies actually MADE for IMAX such as Everest, etc. because it fills the whole screen.
But I went to see Harry Potter at IMAX and HATED IT. Just looked like a stretched out version and I ended up spending 2 hours staring at Harry's giant nose. My neck hurt too.
here on LI, things are about the same ($3.25 for gas, $10.50 a movie).. the problem now is the huge housing "bust" going on -- in my town alone about 120 houses are for sale & no one's buyingComment

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
60 foot wide screen, wall of speakers behind the screen, 12,000 watt digital surround sound.
Talk about a great movie to hear in suped up surround sound.
And I am Legend starts playing on it today and it was also made for IMAX, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that. Well that and the extended trailer for the Dark Knight.PS4: aBayBates

Re: Boy, it sure has gotten expensive to live.
Gas is 3 bucks a gallon.
I go to Chik Fil A and get a packet of nuggets and a fruit cup (no drink).....8 bucks.
I go to the movies....9 bucks for a ticket.
10 years ago, Gas was 1.30 a gallon. I could get a fast food meal for about 5 bucks and I could go to the movies for 5 bucks.
This doesn't include your standard car payment, mortgage, etc. as well as the "modern bills" that our parents didn't have to worry about....Cell phone bill, internet bill, satellite TV bill, etc.
Oi vey...it's getting expensive to simply exist..
I'll tell you what, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The American $ is being intentionally devalued to increase exports and make domestic products more attractive. But the kicker is that oil is priced in US $. So you have two factors in play, 1. The dollar not being worth as much so oil is obviously going to raise in price and 2. Developing economies draining the supply of oil.
Everything really revolves around the price of oil, because as of 2005, it actually cost more to get the product to its place of sale than to actually produce the product. That and most things we use have some oil base or use oil in the production. Its only going to get worse.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Yeah!!!!!....and you know how you're REALLY going save money by eating at McDonald's?......all those meals you aren't going to have to buy when you drop dead at age 55!
j/k....I hope you're eating Big Mac's until you're 80...
I just wouldn't be so proud about it......

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I'm surprised I haven't been suspected of carrying a gun in a movie theater with all the stuff I bring with me. I usually get one of those huge ice tea cans and then whatever candy I want. My dad somehow brought a box of popeyes with him once.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
