Re: Anyone ever travel to Australia?
Qantas - "For bulky baggage that doesn't meet the requirements, you need to get permission at least 2 days in advance."
That to me sounds like you'd be okay, as long as they allow it, and you let them know ahead of time.
Code:USA/Canada Open hours: 6.30am-10.30pm 7 days a week MST, 5.30am-9.30pm 7 days a week MDT, After hours, calls may be diverted to Australia. 1 800 227 4500
Code:1-800-262-1234
Well, the problem is that I have to fly from Toronto to A-LA and then Straight to Brisbane, or B- Toronto to Vancouver, to New Zealand, to Sydney, to Brisbane (27 hour flight) BUT if its necessary, I'll do it.
I definitely have to call. Thanks man!PSN: Peji911Comment

Re: Anyone ever travel to Australia?
It appears as though its a no-go.
I called Qantas and for 2 friggin extra kilos, they cant let it slide...and wont even let me pay for it or transfer the extra weight to a friend's tab.
So now I gotta call Air New Zealand (its closed today), and Pacesetter Travel and see if the guy, who works specifically with students, can help me out. We're going on a Group Flight (ie: they reserved space just for potential students) and hopefully we can work something out.
2 flipping kg... friiiigPSN: Peji911Comment

Re: Anyone ever travel to Australia?
I know, right? I go to europe every year and its 7.5 hours, more or less.
Also, not sure who told you its only 17 hours, but.... brace yourself.... brace yourself.... its actually a full 24 hours, PLUS stops... BRUTAL. Im paying 300$ extra to make sure its a 23-24 hr flight and not a 30hr flight with the stopsComment

Re: Anyone ever travel to Australia?
Nope. Just a Jumbo 747. I checked google - and the results I came up with said it's a 15 hour non-stop to Sidney (I believe our flight was 14 and a bit) - which is what I did at the time.
So it depends what sort of plane, and where you're flying to really.
Seeing as how he's in Ontario, then it will be around 20 hours total for him. I think it's 4 1/2 - 5 to LA from there, then about 15 hours non-stop if you're going to Sidney (depends again, where he's flying to and on what plane).Last edited by MC Fatigue; 12-16-2007, 12:37 PM.Comment

Re: Anyone ever travel to Australia?
The reason I ask is that I leave in January. Considering Im going for a year (for school) I wanted to buy a computer that I could do school, but also use as a TV.
For that reason, I was leaning towards the iMac, 20" because Im tired of laptops (my bro has a Macbook Pro and its sick, just not for me).
Anyways, they weigh about 20". Like, how in the world can I bring this on the plane as a carry-on? Man, I was looking sooo forward to buying this, and I probably wont even get a chance to get one.
Sucks how planes dont let you put things close to your feet.
Hopefully theres a way around this....?Comment
