    Re: Work on Christmas Eve

When I worked for Goodwill-weekends every single week of the year for 3 years straight.-unless you begged for vacation-and Xmas eve night till 9PM.

But every year around 3PM, no one got within a mile of our second hand store. So it was about 5 or so hours of standing around and trying to look busy when scrooge-a.k.a the boss- walked by.
I was glad to see our 24 hour Walmart closed early and is closed tomorrow. Those people have been bustin' some butt due to the holidays and were worn down to a frazzle. So,if anyone in retail is still at it tonight,my heart goes out to you-or anyone for that much. Being with family and friends is a big part of Xmas.

Every retail place in the area here closed at 6pm except for Kmart, which is open until 10pm. Sad that they won't give their employees off a little early to spend time with their families this time of year. That being said, I did a little switcheroo and got today off, so it didn't effect me

I wish I had work today. Bored.

Good for you as for getting the day off After working the Xmas eve shift it really makes me appreciate tonight. Here in my town,Kmart is open late-probably 10PM. Also,Hastings was open until 8PM. I was forced to go there because wifey HAD to buy some book tonight-The people working there were still running wild helping people find stuff. It really is amazing how people wait till the last second to snag up gifts. Just wait till the day after Xmas, the return madness begins and the retail holocast rears it's ugly head once more-I've done retail at other places and thought the day after Xmas was almost as bad as the day after Thanksgiving.

Damn that sucks. Luckily this is a franchise so we get both days off.

Honestly...who the hell is going to order a pizza on Xmas Day? Certainly not enough people to warrant staying open that day.

Off this year...but it all depends on what days my RDO's (regular days off) fall on. As for New Years...I will work every single one of them for the rest of my career. This year I'm in front of the Paris for the big show.

Yeah, I'm really dreading the day after Christmas seeing as I'm the only manager there for the first two hours of the day...I'm really hoping that people wait until the afternoon to bring their crap back lol

we're a franchise ... and christmas is one of our busiest days of the year. we're the only thing open in town. it's my decision to open up, and i don't make anyone work who doesn't want to. it's all volunteer.

we also open up on thanksgiving too, you would be surprised how busy we are. it's gotten to the point where people expect us to be open.

Ah, I guess being a small town makes a big difference.

Do you just have carryout or delivery on a day like today?

both delivery and carryout ... one driver took 31 deliveries and made $150 and another took 15 and made $55.
