So what did your kids get for Christmas?

Spinoff of what you got for Christmas.

    Nintendo Wii
    Cooking Mama (Wii)
    Mario Party 8 (wii)
    Arts and Crafts stuff
Jewelry Box (two, my grandmother got her one too)
    Alarm Clock
    Clothes
    Houseshoes
    Jewelry
    Hannah Montana (DS)
    Two Hannah Montana dolls
    Moon boots
Some doll you can take online
A lot of High School Musical stuff
Some other things as well but I can't remember (from other family)

Her favorite gift was the makeup though...she got lots of kids makeup . I even let her put it on me and paint my nails.

She likes the Wii, but was saying it was hard because of the way you control it. It will just take time

My kids got a portion of Toys R Us and Kohls. LOL! We bought them toys and clothes.

Like I stated in one of the other threads, my joy comes to watching my kids open their gifts and I think so far this has to be the best one. The excitement in all 3 of their faces and how they were screaming when they opened some of their gifts was just plain touching. I felt like I was watching that Nintendo commercial from the 80's when that kid got the NES and he went nuts in excitement.

My 1 1/2 baby boy got a musical learning chair, a race track with cars, a musical lawn mower, a musical vacuum, a tricycle, and a fire truck ride along musical toy. We also bought clothes, but he's growing so fast we started using them when we bought them. I found myself moved to tears a couple of times watching him, and I nust say this is the most fun I've had for Christmas in a long time.

I didn't get my kids anything, I wanted to them to understand Christmas isn't always about gift giving or receiving. No tree or anything.

Plus, this was a reminder to them on how most Christmas' were for us when we were growing up. I showed them many instances on TV on which many kids are going to Churches and shelters for gifts and meals, so be thankful for what you have, not for what you didnt get. Many years Xmas never showed up at our doorstep nor did we complain. We were poor and enjoyed Christmas for its family time more than the gifts.

In all, I wanted to educate them on xmas more than anything. I guess I did give them something, a lesson.

That is cruel. I would think you would want to give your kids the things you did not have when you were a kid. It is important for kids to know the meaning of Christmas but this is taking it to the extreme with not getting them anything. Just because you had it rough growing up and Christmas was not that great for you does not mean you have to turn around and make Christmas rough on your kids if you don't have to.

I don't know you at all Bizzy, but that is heartless and cruel. As a parent, I want my kids to do better than my wife and I in life and if we can help them get there sooner than I'm happy. That is how it was with my parents, they came here as immigrants so growing up we didn't have all the things that others did (I wore Kmart jimmies till god knows how long, while others wore Nikes and Reebok....didn't get my first pair of Nikes till Junior High) because they were trying to give us the best they could.

So, just cause you had it rough, you want the same for your kids? I guess to each his own and how we raise our kids............but it would be a cold day in hell that I would do that to mine. It's fine that you want them to understand value of xmas, but your going about this the wrong way. I wonder if you do the same to them on evenings where you feel that they should be taught a lesson on missing a meal because you might have missed a few growing up.

Must I go broke to get kids things that they dont need? Do you know how many families are broke after christmas? Why waste money?

                  My kids are spoiled anyhow.

They are your kids, but that was very sorry. You can teach them a lesson and still give them gifts, even if you didn't want to give them but one gift each and still teach them what you wanted them to learn. If you feel like they are ungrateful and take everything for granted, that's probably more of your fault then theirs.

My girls got lots of clothes... mostly fall winter type stuff... they both got new coats and snow pants for the ski season. They got a few board games, some Moon Sand, Webkinz, a Cabbage Patch Kid (they get one every year from my Aunt) and some "big girl" soaps and "beauty supplies. My 7 year old got like 4 pair of shoes. The kid is a shoe addict.

                      It was a nice Christmas.

I love when OS gives out family advice.

I never said my kids were ungrateful, I said spoiled. Meaning, they don't have to wait for the one special day of the year to get what they always have wanted. Good grades/Honor roll in school warrant presents not Xmas. Doing household chores without asking I would give gifts. So my kids look at xmas as something for the ones who can't get stuff thruout the year.

I guess you guys never had to go thru buying your kids everything they wanted and needed only for them not to touch the damn thing 2 weeks after. Please, me and the kids stayed up til 3am playing video games on Xmas day and no one even thought different.

                            They received:
                            clothes
                            clothes
                            and clothes. lol
                            Also Brain Age II
                            iPod Nano's
                            Scene It Music Edition
Lots of Makeup and about 150.00 in gift cards.
                            I have 2 daughters.
I love watching them Christmas morning and we usually are awake by 5-6 just talking about what we are going to do for the day. Then around 7 we head out and start the fun.
They bring home good grades and know right from wrong plus do volunteer work throughout the year. So this day was thiers.
