    Car Question...

    Gotta quick question:

I bought a 2008 Mitsubishi GTS Lancer for Christmas. Its a hot car with Nav, sub-woofer, sunroof and 18's. Now a question:

I took the car back a couple of days afterward to get a sealant put on there and now the car is covered in little swirls(my fiance and I have nicknamed the car Scratches and Swirls in order to not go crazy). Now the guys at the dealership are telling us that all black cars look like this, but it didn't look like this when we bought it. We are pretty fed up, is there anything we can do to get id of the swirls? And does anyone have any idea how they got there?

Sounds like it happened when they buffed it? I dont know. If you rub the surface with your finger, does the swirl go away?

Stupid question I suppose, but I waxed my car once and had the same thing happen with mine because of an uneven coat of wax, but it went away when I washed it next.

BTW, my car is black, and no, thats not normal.

EDIT: Are there scratches on the surface as well, or were you just joking about that?

They look like little thin azz scratches. I told my fiance that the buffer might a been dirty cause it looks like really, really, thin scratches.

Yes they screwed something up, a power buffer will put the swirls on the car if you don't do it right. Tell them you want a new car. You don't want them to just paint it again because they probably will not remove the sealant and they will just paint over the factory paint.

They might be able to buff them out, but I wouldn't let them try. Don't let them tell you its wax and it will go away, you don't wax a new paint job.

That means scratches. Definitely demand a new car. They messed up and they're trying to back out of it now.

Take it to a detailing shop or auto auto body place and get a professional opinion in writing on what the status of the car is. This will start the process.

Well we took the car BACK to the dealership earlier this week. That was on Wed of last week. They slapped a gang of wax on the car and what do you know, it rained like hell, and all their wax washed off. So we are right back where we started, a brand new car that looks like we've been through the autowash at BP 25 times. We're calling Mitsubishi today since the dealership "doesn't see what we are talking about." Oh yea, the sales rep had the audacity to tell me that its Mitsubishi's paint that looks like that...Are you f(*@# kidding me?

Do they have any other black cars on the lot? If so park right up next to one and then tell them why doesn't theirs look like yours if it's supposed to be normal.

Nah, just one step further. I brought a black Civic up there.
