    Is it illegal to.....

Drive w\ your ipod in your ears?

I thought so, but my friend got pulled over on the way to my house for speeding, and forgot to take them off.....he said the officer said nothing about the phones in his ear and just gave him a ticket for speeding....

was this a oversight, or is this actually legal?

    Re: Is it illegal to.....

In driving school they said you can't have both buds in your ear, but one would be ok.

It's probably different in other areas though.

I doubt you'd get a ticket for it though. Probably a warning suggesting that it isn't safe to wear them.

I'm not sure if it's illegal, but I would think that is the most unsafe thing you could do while driving.

it's kind of hard to hear sirens and car horns whilst wearing them ... so i could see getting ticketed. i wouldn't want to have them on if i were in an accident.

Probably just got lucky. Because it is illegal in most States. I think you can have one in, but if you have both it is illegal.

Uh... I'm not sure. They don't enforce it though if there is a law against it.

As if people weren't bad enough drivers. I swear if I saw someone with an IPod on while driving, I would go out of my way to get someone to pull them over just for the sheer stupidity of it.

                      May I ask why?

What is the problem with listening to an ipod in the car? It's no different than listening to the radio, as long as you don't have the ipod volume at the maximum level. I can still hear myself snap my fingers when I have my ipod on, why are you under the impression that I wouldn't be able to hear a siren?

With that said, I don't listen to my ipod in the car. Hell, I don't even know where my ipod is.

I think there is a difference. I think when you have something in your ears, it would cancel out some sounds and with music playing too. I think you wouldn't hear that much.

I'm pretty sure it is illegal in Cali. I got pulled over on my motorcycle one time, and I had both buds in my ears under my helmet. So I got a ticket for it.

Because people drive like morons already. And they don't need more distractions. You might be able to hear through your IPod, but douchebags in LA can't. If they can't drive while on the ****ing cell phone, there ain't no way they're going to be able to drive with an IPod in their ears. I'm sick of people driving 20mph on a major artery of the city just because they're on their cell phone and can't focus on what they should be doing.

I don't see how having Ipod earphones in your ears is any different then having the radio up loud.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
