I need to rant, so others can share their frustrations...

So today our vaction calendar for 2008 is going around at work. Most groups at my job are 4 to 5 people max. Our group happens to be 8 people, but it's broken down in three groups. My group is three of us, then the other two groups are two with a guy who floats around and can do all three groups work.

Other then the guy who floats, if I am off it doesn't effect what someone in the other two groups do and vice versa. So tell me this, why in the hell does all of our vacation time revolve around each other. If this lady is out in the other group and I am out, it doesn't matter because I can't do her work and she can't do mine, yet when the calendar comes around, I can't take this day off because someone else is off. If I am off and someone calls in sick or what have you it doesn't matter because we can't help each other.

We are the biggest group here. Shoot I've been here almost two years, yet people that have been here a month are going to get better vaction days then me because they are in a smaller group.

My turn:
July 07: It was time for my Wife and I to re-up our wireless phone service. RadioShack/AT&T was having a sale which included 50 gift card for each phone activation. We did 4.
1/2 hr later the lady that signed us up found us walking the mall to tell us they forgot to put in the gift card stuff. So we had to go back to RS and cancel order and re-do the whole thing. After another 45 minutes or so it was all set. "Your gift card should arrive within 7-8 weeks. Fast forward to 1st week of Dec 07. No card yet. Contacted RS and the lady looked it up and called AT&T. They had no record of gift card being submitted. They fixed it and said I should have it in 3-4 weeks.
Tuesday Jan 15, 08. Called AT&T about gift card. "It shows it has been mailed out. Call us back in 4 days if you don't recieve it"

Today. Called AT&T. The rep says "it's in the system for a 50.00 gift card" So I said no it is for 200.00. He then says "I don't like the looks of this order. I'm redoing it. You should have the card in 6-8 weeks."
I hung up and we are now cancelling AT&T.

I have the agreement which clearly states 200.00 giftcard with AT&T service agreement. They did not deliver so the contract is void imo. I'm sure I'll get some sort of legal mumbo jumbo eventually when we go to cancel...

I had a final exam today where I had to write 4-5 pages on feminism.

I signed up for political something or other, and end up having to care about the feelings of some 1960s hoes.

reminds me off my freshman year in college at the university of missouri. the lady was preparing my schedule as is done for most incoming freshmen. after she's done she hands me the schedule and goes on to inform me that this is her last day. the next semester was spent taking a graduate 20th Century Female American Writers class with a bunch of The Soldier's so called described women. I got a D.

It's my senior year, so I have early release. On one day it's 3, and for the whole first semester the other day was 1. My 4th period had D lunch so I could just leave.

Now they inform us, that the same class we have been in all year, now has C lunch, so that means I have to come back for another 30 minutes of class after a lunch I won't eat at and won't get out until 1:30.

I feel ya, Dook. Same thing is happening with me at work. A woman who doesn't even the same job as me (we can't even cover for each other, as our shifts overlap) has the same vacation dates as me and now I have to choose another one . . . even though neither one of us can do anything to cover for the other and no one CAN cover for one of us can cover for the other. Idiots.


By the way, you going to see Brother Ali in Dallas March 19th? Ticket pre-sale starts tomorrow.

Sounds like a professor with their own agenda, I hated that stuff in school. I had a professor who lived an "alternative" lifestyle, it was a Lit class and he basically forced you to share his opinion on anything or you wouldn't pass.

The only class like that I have is government, and our teacher won't tell us who he is voting for or if he is rep or dem so we won't think he is being bias.

My boss is ********. A total of 8 investigators have quit and now there are two of us left. My co-worker is quiting this week. I am the only one left and im stuck with this boss of mine! Ugh, thank god its my first job and I am just doing it for experience. [/rant]

upper level mgmt should see the trend there and know that people are quiting because of your boss. Your boss must either a) be a hell of a worker or b) have some dirt on his boss

Oh she is a very knowledgeable in our work. She has been with the agency for 8+ years (very rare in Child Protective Services). She just isn't a good unit supervisor. It is also extremely difficult to get fired from CPS. People drop like flys in this agency. We have a 90% turn over rate.

Yeah once you've served some time working in the public sector, it's next to impossible to get fired.

Upper level management isn't always smart or logical. Some people end up in upper management that can't handle the job (don't have the cojones to stand up for things) and that f's over everyone below him.
