I'm in Iowa... the only kind of "carjack" we have is the kind you use to change a tire.

I went to University of Maryland (College Park)...surprisingly one of the more dangerous college campuses/cities in the country that's not inside a major city like Hopkins, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, etc... During my 4 years there we had about 3 students killed by non-students. I lived a block off campus and there were drug busts, drug deals, police activity, shootings, break-ins, robberies, and stabbings monthly. My senior year (2003) it was insane. My complex finally fenced off their parking lot after kids cars were getting broken into about once per week and there was a stabbing about 100 yards from our parking lot.

I feel safe from terrorists. I only even think about that stuff when I ride the metro in DC. It would be SOOOOOOO easy for them to do something there. They'd take out a ton of ppl (some very important ppl) and cause all sorts of issues.

Where I live now in a nice safe neighborhood (10-15 min outside DC) I feel safe. Feel safe in DC too, even late at night. A lot of places I wouldnt want to be in SE or SW after 1am but that can be said about most places.

I feel safe overseas as well.

Dont' feel all that safe driving. You have to be a defensive driver, you can be doing EVERYTHING right yet some idiot on his cellphone or radio or texting could sideswipe you and kill you even though you were doing nothing wrong.

Yeah, I heard about that recently. Now I have to laugh my butt off every time people cry about Toronto being this big murder city when Winnipeg is the most murderious city in all of Canada.

not to sure, but quite a few people ive met have been stabbed or shot at or something stupid liek that.. its weird though a buddy from Toronto said he like it here cause everyone is nicer

Only if they get a clean line of sight - AKA no cows or barns in the way.

But really. Iowa, even urban Iowa, has to be the safest place in the country. I don't know what it is, maybe we just haven't thought of it yet or something. But it just doesn't happen here. I can't remember the last time I feared for myself or my possessions in this state.

The downside of this is when I go to St. Louis or Chicago, I am paranoid about everything.

How do you freaking live in Winnipeg. It was freaking -42 a few weeks ago when I was there. I went out two or three times at night the whole time I was there... the rest of the time I just ate at the Radisson Hotel.

Yea it is hard to feel safe when anytime you turn around kids are getting their wigs peeled right in front of their schools. (DC)

I feel safe as long as I'm not in the wrong place at the wrong time. I guess that would mean a lot of luck and fate.
