    Funny stories from work

A funny story about a co-worker who was a friend of mine (and he sat right behind me - we sat back to back):
For some reason he sarted receiving e-mails concerning Nike planning and marketing issues. we realized that he had the same name as the guy who should have got those mails. So we used to read out all those mails and laugh. Actually it wasn't funny because there were some secret materials and reports there, but we didn't care. The funniest thing was that at some mails he was asked: "We had a meeting yesterday, why didn't u show?"...It was hilarious! We started making a parody about this and I started e-mailing him similar mails to those mails - but funny ones, and we had a lot of fun.

    Re: Funny stories from work

I am a nurse and I used to work at a nursing home. My boss was very proper and never had a hair out of place. A co-worker decided that it would be funny to do a "science experiment" on our boss which consisted of putting a heap of butter on a plate and putting salt on it until it "heats up"... for those of you who have never seen this you dust salt on it and tell the other person to put their hand over it to feel the heat and then you slam their hand down in it. So she called our boss down and told her about how her son learned this in school and told our boss to feel the heat and slammed her hand down in the butter which also splattered all over her shirt! The funniest part however was when my boss, without even cracking a smile, took the butter and rubbed it all over my co-worker's face and hair! Luckily, she could wash her hair out in the shower but it was hilarious!!

Where to start... When I was in NY, we got stuck at work when the Blackout of 2003 hit. It turned out to be fun, because about half the people were still there, and they broke out the liquor usually reserved for attorney functions, and just about everyone got twisted. One of the dudes in the mailroom had just started getting down with a chick who also worked in the mailroom, so while we were eating dinner in the cafeteria, they decide to dip out, supposedly to make a phone call... After awhile we notice they've been gone for a minute, so my homeboy says, "I bet G went downstairs to smash"... So for giggles, we decide to catch them in the act, but nobody was in the mailroom. Mailroom staff had keys to just about everything in the building, and since we didn't see them, we concluded they must have gone a level below, to where the Records Department was, where my homeboy worked... The door was locked, and my man didn't have his key. Another dude who worked with us, said, "Yo, son, imagine if he's smashing on your desk? It's right there when you walk in..." We hadn't thought of that, and my man starts banging on the door, "Yo, open up! I know you in there!!" We leave it alone after awhile and go back upstairs. The next morning, I wake up and go see my homeboy to see what's up for breakfast, and he's furiously scrubbing his desk, cursing under his breath... I'm like, "What's up?" He says, "I think the fool nutted on my desk."

Two co-workers at some place I worked severtal years ago, had this joke whenever there was a new worker. They used to tell him they could do a copy-paste from computer to computer. So they used to show him how one of them did "copy" to some text, and the other pressed "paste" on his computer and the text (exact fonts and attributes) appeard on his screen (of course they prepared it before the trick)! Some people believed it! It was hilarius! Always made me laugh, no matter how many times I've seen it

I work at a grocery store. So I'm standing there at my register in my trusty collared shirt and tie and our CSM gets a call to the front office. He than returns to tell one of the sackers that there was a woman out in the parking who had just phoned the front office to have someone send out one of those electric carts. A good laugh was had by all at the person's laziness.

It did not end there, however. Roughly 10-15 minutes have elapsed and suddenly we hear a loud, "HELP" from the back of the store and our faces are overcome by a puzzled look. Surely it can't be the woman from earlier? One of our sackers takes off diligently to the back of the store to investigate the source of the call. Of course it was the woman from earlier and she needed a package of meat. A package of meat that she could have reached if only she had stood up from her cart...

Good times at a grocery store...

Haha, as someone that spent some time working at a grocery store. I can totally see that happening. My favorite grocery store customer memory was a lady trying to return (for cash) a 3 month old gallon of milk. We didn't even carry the brand that she had. lol. She threatened to call the cops if we didn't accept it. We called her bluff and she just turned and walked away.

This is at Training camp in Bourbonnais:

At Training camp we have a section for kids with inflatable game area. One of the game is "Joust" Were kids go on an inflatable with two inflatable steps and they hit eachother and knock eachother off.

One of the days this geeky looking dad with a star wars t-shirt comes over to the area with his kid. When his kid comes up he said "Come on Luke, Use the Force!". At this point I thought I was hearing things, because I had been working for 5 hours and it was extremely warm..But unfortunately it was real, not only did he name his kid Luke..But he told him to use the force.

It didn't end there, every single time his kid and the other kid hit there jousts together he made the lightsaver sounds "WHOOSH WHOOSh".

                    Re: Funny stories from work

Good blackout story. I wasn't present for the one that happened to a coworker of mine but I heard the story many times.

I used to work at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and during the blackout in NY the computers all cut off. When the computers went out so did our network that basically showed us what vehicles were available for rent - not to mention everything else really important to the company.

Anyway, a few people were in charge of contacting the networking dept to find a way to get the backup server up and running. They decided to play a trick on one of the Assistant Managers. They convince the networking guy to join in.

So, the Ast. Mgr gets on the phone with the guy and the guy starts telling him that he needs him to find a hanger. Ast. Mgr goes and finds one. Returns to the phone.
"Now I need you to take off your shoes." Goes and takes off his shoes. "You need to run around in a circle while furiously rubbing your feet against the carpet with the hanger high above your head. The current will help get the backup network up and running."

So the Ast. Manager starts running around in circles with his shoes off and this hanger above his head. Everyone in the office is in the back watching him make a fool of himself on the security cameras - which don't go down during a blackout.

When nothing happens he gets back on the phone and says, "I don't think this is working." The network guys tells him, "You must be doing something wrong. Keep trying."

                    And so he continues.

Lets just say that this went on for a while before he finally gave up.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Just this past saturday this guy tried to exchange a box of lipton's tea for a non decaf version. Well, it doesn't ring up in the system. One of my higher up goes back and checks to make sure we carry the tea and than comes back and looks at the box the guy was trying exchange and saw that it had expired back in December '05. Worst of all the guy came through my line so I had to stand there looking stupid the whole time and unable to check out any other customers.

Anytime some douche that can barely speak English comes into my Baskin Robbins is bound to be a killer story.

I have so many stories I can't even begin to remember.
